The Deputy Mayor's Exchange

Wishing you peace, health, joy and prosperity as the celebration of the Lunar New Year occurs.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!
Gong Xǐ Fā Cái!
Happy Year of the Rat - In Chinese culture, rats are considered as highly intelligent and adaptive animals.

In western culture rats are not looked upon so favourably, more so with the news from China that the consumption of rats or bats may be the source for the Coronavirus. The so-called "Wu Flu" originating in one of Markham's sister cities, Wuhan China, is dominating the NEWS.

The Mayor is calling on the Federal Government to increase screening at Canadian airports. Watch for this to become more prominent in the days and weeks ahead. Take appropriate health precautions.
