Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital to partner with University of Oxford on clinical neurosciences exchange program
The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, a Trinity Health Of New England provider, are partnering with the University of Oxford on a new clinical neurosciences exchange program.
 
Two medical students from the Netter School will participate in the six-week program, which comprises two weeks of intensive seminars at the University of Oxford and four weeks of clinical neurology at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, a large teaching hospital and leading center for medical research.  
 
Two Oxford medical students also will attend the two-week seminar at Oxford and then spend four weeks in a clinical rotation at the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, the primary partner for Quinnipiac's Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine. They also will spend time at the Netter School to study the U.S. comprehensive continuum of care model, which differs from the more siloed approach to neurology patients taken by U.K. hospitals.

L.L. Bean sets grand-opening celebration for New Haven Broadway site  
The Bootmobile will soon be making a return visit to the city when L.L. Bean rolls out a celebration of the opening of its store on Broadway as part of a Yale University development.

The company is advertising the celebration in its newest catalogue.

It says welcoming the 9,000-square-foot store, which will occupy the first two floors of a six-story building, will be a three-day event from Aug. 3-5. Read More

Proposed Waterfront Outlet Mall clears final hurdle in West Haven   
Revised plans for a unique West Haven outlet mall received the final go ahead from the city's Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night.

This despite a long legal feet with a business that has refused to move to make way for the mall. Those close to the projected quarter of a billion dollar development said it could result in an additional $2 million to $3 million in annual tax revenue for the city. Read More  

Guilford Receives State Funding for Housing Improvements     
In late June, the Town of Guilford received some good news from the state: The town has been selected to receive $400,000 in funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities program. The program will allow low- to moderate-income Guilford residents to apply for funds through the program to make their homes safer, healthier, and more efficient.

The town began work on applying for this program months ago. The grant application process was lengthy and complicated, but First Selectman Matt Hoey said in a prepared statement that the process was worth, shortly after the town received the money. Read More
