CALL 2-1-1 offers telephone reassurance program
Community Access Line of the Lakeshore, CALL 2-1-1, is now offering a telephone reassurance program to help alleviate social isolation and loneliness in older adults in Muskegon, Oceana, and Southwest and Southeast Ottawa counties. Senior Resources awarded a grant for the program, through funding from the state Aging and Adult Services Agency.
The program covers all of Muskegon and Oceana counties, and the following in Ottawa County: Blendon, Georgetown, Holland, Jamestown, Olive, Park, Port Sheldon and Zeeland townships, and the cities of Holland, Hudsonville and Zeeland. (Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging covers the Tri-Cities and Northeast Ottawa County area.)
With the Telephone Reassurance Program, staff and trained volunteers make regularly scheduled phone calls to isolated and homebound seniors to provide wellness checks and socialization.
CALL 2-1-1 is also seeking volunteers for the program. Training is provided, and a volunteer commitment can be as little as two hours per week.
