Articles in the issue offer theoretical and empirical contributions to existing bodies of knowledge focusing on single countries or offering comparative perspectives involving multiple countries. The introductory piece by Seo and Faris is available here.

Assistant Professor Chris Etheridge and a co-author from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will be presenting a paper titled "Objectivity in observations documentary films" to the Documentary Division of the Broadcast Educators Association in April. They discuss how journalistic objectivity norms are represented in seven documentary films. The manuscript was awarded Top Debut, first place, by the division.

Assistant Professor Chris Etheridge and a co-author from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Reynolds Journalism Institute will be presenting a network analysis of Twitter users during the 2019 Women's March event at AEJMC's Midwinter Conference in March. They discuss how co-occurrence of hashtags in Twitter content may lead to a deepening of the social movement's network.

Assistant Professor Melissa Greene-Blye will present "War Chief, Friend of Presidents, Prohibitionist, and Prophet: Will the "real" Little Turtle Please Stand Up?" at the AEJMC Midwinter Conference in Norman, Oklahoma, next month.

Patricia Weems Gaston, the Lacy C. Haynes Professor of Journalism, was a guest on KCUR last week along with William Allen White Foundation Trustee Lewis Diuguid. They discussed how the media covered Donald Trump and The Kansas City Star's apology for its coverage and treatment of African Americans and Black communities throughout the newspaper's history. STUDENT NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES
Student named one of AAF's Most Promising Multicultural Students
Congratulations to J-School senior Sheyenne Denton, who was one of 50 students chosen nationwide by the American Advertising Federation as a Most Promising Multicultural Student. The MPMS program connects the advertising industry with the nation’s top multicultural college seniors, the advertising industry’s best young prospects, and helps the advertising and media workforce better reflect the diversity of today's society. Students participated in four-day virtual conference, were divided into competition teams, and were given an industry mentor. Denton's team won the competition, which was to re-imagine the future of the workplace in the advertising industry. Denton said, "Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I met amazing students across the nation, networked with individuals in the advertising industry and left the conference feeling excited to jump into work after college."
