Borderplex Alliance CEO Celebrates USMCA Ratification

EL PASO  -  Jon Barela, CEO of The Borderplex Alliance, today released the following statement regarding the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), passing the U.S. Senate.

"For more than three years, The Borderplex Alliance has engaged in vigorous advocacy, coalition building, local and national press interviews, op-eds, and meetings with the White House and Congressional leaders, to push for the ratification of the USMCA. Today's news is a validation of our strategy of cultivating unlikely allies and helping organize a pragmatic and bipartisan coalition of business and congressional leaders from across the nation. We are energized to build on this success and capitalize on this opportunity for our region. With this agreement in place, we will now shift efforts to advocating for increased funding and staffing at our ports of entry to help reduce the long wait times and unpredictability at ports. The combination of this new trade deal and the reduction of wait times will help solidify our region's role as the gateway of trade for the Americas and help us attract more talent, capital, and jobs."
