BE A LEADER
Monday, January 20 | 6 - 9 PM | Parish Hall
This coming Monday, we are hosting a workshop that is sure to change the way you interact with other people. Kathleen Fischer will be helping us explore "appreciative inquiry", a method of identifying what is working well, analyzing why it is working well, and then doing more of it.
Appreciative inquiry helps to nurture positive energy, which is a vital part of any church, business, or home environment. It is a model that our vestry has been implementing over the past year, but we think it is a useful tool for anyone and that is why we are so glad to be able to open this to any and all participants.
As we look forward to our annual parish meeting in February, we ask that anyone willing to stand for election to the vestry attend this workshop. If you would like to nominate someone for vestry, please invite them to attend the workshop with you. Nominees will provide their information at the end of the evening.

FAMILY FORUM
What’s Urgent? What’s Important? What’s Required?
This Sunday, January 19 | 9:15 AM | Kincaid
Building on Kathleen Fischer’s visit, we will continue in a small group setting with other parents to do guided exercises and continued reflection
on what is urgent and important in our lives of family and faith. This class uses a scriptural basis to help refocus on what is required and what “success” looks like for our families.

TWO WAYS TO SERVE AT THE GATHERING
Now until Sunday, February 9 | 11:45 AM - 2 PM | Thanks Giving Square
We are collecting warm clothes (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) to take with us to hand out. You may drop items off in the box outside the Bride’s Room from now until January 9th.
Take a trip with us down to Thanks-Giving Square to worship and serve with those in need. Good Shepherd youth will make sandwiches during the Sunday School hour and then volunteers will gather following the 10:30 AM service to head downtown. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together; children and their parents are welcome to attend along with the youth and adult volunteers. A bus is available for families to ride together.

Happy New Year! January is a busy time in the business office as we complete the financial records for 2019 and begin the new year. You can help get 2020 off to a good start. Here is a brief list of things to do now:
- Watch the mail for your 2019 donation reports. I mailed 2019 Contribution Statements (yellow & green) and Charitable Gifts Report (blue & red) last Friday. If you made a gift of $250 or more, you should receive a Charitable Gift Report; please retain with your tax records. Please review your statements and report any discrepancies by Monday, January 20. I need to close revenue for 2019 to begin preparing reports for the Annual Meeting.
- Remember to set up 2020 credit card donations this month. If you want to make regular, recurring donations to the church by credit card, please review now to make sure they are set up correctly. If you requested that I set them up for you, you should have received an email confirming the gifts. Unless otherwise specified, I set up all monthly gifts to process on the 15th and you will receive an email confirming the transaction on the date processed. If the gift does not process, you should receive an automatically generated email noting a failed transaction. Please watch your email this month and check your credit card statement to confirm the gift is correct.
You also can set up or change a recurring credit card gift
here by logging into your My Good Shepherd account. Need more help? Contact me and I can send you instructions.
Forgot to make a 2020 pledge? I know! The end of the year is incredibly busy. If that pledge card is still sitting on the kitchen counter – no worries! Just click
here and submit your pledge today.
Questions? Email
Debra Pyke. Thank you so much for your continued financial support of Good Shepherd.
