The nation celebrates summer food this month. July is National Grilling Month, National Hot Dog Month, National Ice Cream Month, National Baked Bean Month, National Picnic Month, and National July Belongs to Blueberries Month.

Giesenbrau Bier Co., 1306 1st Street NE, New Prague

Join library staff at Giesenbrau Bier Co. for a night of Stranger Things trivia and activities, just in time for the premiere of Season 3. Sign up as a team of 2-6, or singly and we'll connect you with a team. Register in advance to guarantee your spot - onsite registrations will be taken if there is still room. For adults, and families with kids 12 & older. Sponsored by the New Prague Library.

Celebrate the amazing work Twin Oaks Middle School has done with their design of Little Free Library prototypes. View the designs, have a snack, check us out! The designs will remain in the Prior Lake Library through the month of July.

Belle Plaine Library

Join Scott County Library and Smalltown Eclectic as they present Loud! at the Library, an open mic and art night. Discover hidden talent, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Prior Lake Library

Join the Scott County Library's Teen Advisory Board for a fabulous book sale!  Browse and take home your favorite reads or find a new treasure. The proceeds from this sale support Teen Advisory Board activities for the year.



Ongoing Programs

Every 2nd Thursday, 5:00-7:00pm 
Savage Library

The South Metro Chapter of SCORE presents free, confidential small business counseling, coaching and mentoring once a month.  Pre-registration is required.   


Legal Clinics 

Every 2nd Monday, 4:00-6:00pm
Law Library

The Scott County Law Library is offering a free 30-minute consultation with a volunteer family law attorney. This clinic  is only for people with family law issues. These issues include divorce, custody, child support and parenting time. This clinic is NOT for persons currently represented by an attorney. Pre-registration is required. 

Every 2nd and 4th Thursday, 4:00-6:00pm
Law Library

If you are representing yourself in Scott County Housing or Conciliation Court and need help filling out paperwork or preparing the required forms - this clinic may help you!  Two volunteer attorneys will be available for 20-minute consultations to get your questions answered. This clinic is a first come-first served clinic. No registration required.

Savage Library

Every business and organization needs a brand to successfully communicate with current and prospective customers, members, or donors. Your brand is more than just a logo; it's your story. Who are you, what do you do, and why? You'll leave this course with an action plan for successfully developing and implementing your organization's brand across a website, in social media, and in print. Bring your own laptop or device if possible.

From email to social media and e-commerce, modern life leaves digital footprints everywhere we go. This class will offer an overview of online security basics, anonymous browsing, maintaining devices, reading URLs, better passwords, and avoiding phishing. Discover the tools and techniques you need to protect your online information.

What is a marketing plan and why do I need one? You will leave this class with a template for creating a marketing plan for your business or organization. Set goals and achieve them over the next 12 months. Bring your own laptop or device. 

Saturday, July 20th, 2:00-4:00pm
New Prague Library

This class follows Part I by discussing malvertising and safe searching, using ad blockers, setting up a secure home wireless network, using standard vs administrative accounts, encryption and VPNs. Learn to better protect your digital life.

Monday, August 5th, 6:00-8:00pm
Savage Library

What would you do if your identity were stolen? Knowing what to do is important because an identity thief can hijack your tax refund, alter your medical records, and prevent you from getting credit or a job.  This class covers what identity theft is, how to protect your identity and avoid identity theft, and provides clear action steps to take if it happens to you.

Book Clubs

Want to talk with like-minded individuals about books, and socialize at the same time? Attend one of the monthly library-sponsored book clubs! 

This month's reading and discussions:

Prior Lake Library Book Club  - will discuss by The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton.   

Jordan Library Book Club  - will take a break this summer, and resume in September.   

Savage Pagers Book Clu b - will discuss Killers of the Flower Moon: the Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann.    

Between the Covers Book Group (Savage)  - will discuss Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger.  New members welcome!

Minnesota History Book Club (New Prague) - will discuss  The Jesse James Northfield Raid: Confessions of the Ninth Man by John Koblas.  This is a NEW book group, and new members are welcome!
