Due to staff busily preparing for the NACD Northeast Regional Meeting & PACD/SCC Joint Annual Conference, there will not be a Front Page issue on July 16. Front Page will return July 23 with photos and information about the conference.
NACD July Urban & Community Webinar

The topic for the next National Association of Conservation District's Urban and Community Conservation webinar is "Collaborating for Water Quality." The webinar will take place from Noon to 1:00 p.m. on July 19, 2018.
 
Discussion will include developing an integrated aquatic plant management plan in South Carolina, and creating a partnership in Nebraska between nine governmental agencies to proactively deal with the water quality and quantity issues in Omaha.

Eastern Native Grass Symposium Coming in September 

Mark your calendar for the 11th Eastern Native Grass Symposium to take place September 17-19, 2018.The event will feature: the latest information from renowned presenters and exhibitors; best management practices; and field tours showcasing the progressive use of native grasses and forbs in a host of diverse applications. We have thirty outstanding presentations and four information-packed field tours for you to choose from. It all takes place at Erie's beautiful Bayfront Convention Center and the adjoining Courtyard by Marriott on the shores of Lake Erie.
 
The early-bird registration rate of $185 is good until July 15, 2018. After that, the rate will increase to $250.

Land Access Training Coming in October

The National Young Farmers Coalition, Equity Trust, Allegheny County Conservation District, PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and others are collaborating on a training for land trusts, farmland preservation organizations, and anyone associated with land access.
 
This will be a one-day event that focuses on land access issues, particularly for new farmers, and the ways that conservation and preservation groups can better address those problems through creative easements and leasing structures.
 
The training will take place on October 10, 2018 in the Pittsburgh area. More details will be coming soon. Contact Jonathan Burgess at [email protected] for more information.
