Member Spotlight
InXpress
Inxpress Logo This month's membership spotlight features InXpress, a 20-year-old shipping franchise. Currently, there is a total of 80 franchise units in the United States and over 350 around the world.

Recently NEPA spoke with Joseph Garzio, South Philadelphia franchise owner, who highlighted the capabilities of InXpress.

InXpress makes shipping easy and cost competitive for small and mid-sized businesses by operating as a company's personal shipping staff. With InXpress, a company can lower employee expenses and have more time to grow their business. The company also offer rates that are commonly lower than other carriers.

InXpress focuses on international shipping and domestic freight. Their primary international carrier is DHL Air Express, the world's largest carrier. Through working with InXpress, clients can receive a 70% discount from DHL's list rates. InXpress can also handle larger shipments through consolidated air freight and ocean carriers. Additionally, InXpress has rates with over 40 carriers for domestic freight.

Shipping can be difficult, expensive and time consuming. That's why InXpress has a team of shipping experts who remove all the confusion with shipping. They can provide quick quotes and immediately process paperwork.

FAR & DCAA Workshop
July 17, 2019 - The Woodlands Inn
The NEPA Alliance Procurement Technical Assistance Center is offering a free workshop on Federal Acquisition (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audits on July 17th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Woodlands Inn, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

OVERVIEW

The FAR directly affects the purchase and sale of over $200 billion worth of supplies, services, and construction each year by federal procurement offices. It is the principal set of rules containing policies and procedures governing the acquisition activity of the federal government. It applies to all federal executive agencies in their acquisition of supplies and services.

The purpose of the FAR is to ensure purchasing procedures are standard, consistent, and conducted in a fair and impartial manner. FAR regulations govern three phases of the acquisition process: acquisition planning; contract formulation; and contract administration.

The FAR document is comprehensive, complex, and continually changing. Small businesses pursuing or awarded government contracts need to have a working knowledge of the FAR to ensure they are getting the best possible contract and are in full compliance with all applicable laws.

FAR clauses are included in all federal government solicitations. In order to be awarded a contract, bidders must either comply with these provisions, demonstrate they will be able to comply at the time of award or claim exemption from them.

AGENDA
  • Overview of Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Definitions of Commonly Used Terminology
  • History and Importance of the DCAA
  • Explanation of the Pre-Award Survey
  • Steps to Prepare for an On-site Audit by DCAA
  • Required Policies and Procedures
  • Three CPE Credits in Government Accounting Will be Awarded

Nick Cline, Principal at DCAA Consulting & Accounting Worldwide Inc., has worked in the private, public, educational, and health care systems after retiring from the United States Army Finance & Accounting Corps, where he was stationed in Germany, South Korea, Vietnam, and Japan.
