Referendum
On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, voters of the community will have the opportunity to vote on three referendum questions: two operational and one facility. All three questions can be passed with NO TAX RATE INCREASE to our citizens! We urge voters to review the facts, ask questions and make an informed choice on Tuesday, April 6th.
Regardless of any state legislation that may change in the near future, the Lake Geneva Joint #1 School Board and the Badger School Board both reached a consensus in September 2020 to continue face coverings until further notice.
As a result, Lake Geneva Schools will continue to require that all students in grades 4K - 12 and all staff wear face coverings. Students in our 3-year-old Buzzing Bees Preschool program are encouraged to wear face coverings but not required.
Gymnasts Qualify for State

Congratulations to the Badger/Burlington gymnastics team (Ava Trent, Kylie Kramer, Lauren Milligan, Addie Welch, Chloe Suchomel and Wylde Chupich) for placing second at sectionals. The gymnasts have qualified for the WIAA State Gymnastics. Great job ladies!
Congratulations to the the Badger Mock Trial team who competed at the Wisconsin State Bar regional tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6 and 7, and took second place.
Esther Coltman received a Results Plus Award at this month's board meeting. Esther was nominated by Matt Roemer for her efforts at the drive-in Santa's Breakfast which was held in December at Badger. Mrs. Stefanie Keisler, Director of Health Services, received a Results Plus award from Lake Geneva Joint #1 and Lake Geneva-Genoa City UHS school boards for being a tremendous asset and leader to our district during the challenging times of COVID-19 and the re-opening of public schools. Stefanie joined our leadership team in the fall and has done a tremendous job in all areas. Stefanie has been an excellent communicator with leaders, teachers, staff and parents. She has gone over and above with her duties and both Boards wanted to recognize and acknowledge these efforts.

Principal's Note
As I write this, we are experiencing a bit of Spring in the weather. With days getting longer and nicer, I am reminded of the year we have traveled so far and am grateful to our students and community for helping keep us healthy and in person. Winter sports were fun and with Wrestling, Gymnastics, and Swimming getting to State, it was a very good season. Congratulations to all our winter athletes and thank you supportive parents and families!

The Badger Fine Arts department showcased student talent in the musical The Theory of Relativity. A poignant production weaving stories into a larger theme of human connection. Bravo! I was there for opening night - great laughter and some tears along the way. A perfect theatre experience.

The end of the third quarter is just around the corner on March 26. Please be sure to have conversations with your student about grades and finishing the year strong. Registration for next year’s classes has ended. We hope that you’ve spent time with your student reviewing all the course offerings Badger has and choosing those that spark student interest and meet graduation requirements. If your student has not completed the scheduling process, please reach out to our Counseling Department to do so. Counselors are in the process of meeting with nonscheduled students as well. Our next step is to build the schedule. Look for schedules to be mailed home in July.

Spring Break is at the end of this month. Wishing the Badger community a safe and enjoyable break.

ACT Testing
The ACT test for the Junior class will be on March 9th. Scores will be sent home and delivered to the school near the end of the school year so be on the lookout for those. If you would like to sign your student up to take the ACT test again, go to www.act.org to do so. You'll need to register for this test through the ACT website in order to take the test on this date at Badger. There are other dates available at other locations, which can also be found on the ACT website.

Scholarships
Several scholarship deadlines have passed but there are still other scholarships available for Seniors to apply for. Senior students have been given instructions on how to access scholarships via the school website where information on each scholarship can be found, as well as the applications. For those Seniors planning to attend a UW school in the fall, check out some other scholarships at this link: https://uwhelp.wisconsin.edu/counselors/navigating-financial-aid/uw-system-scholarship-links/.

Placement Testing
Now that many Seniors are making decisions on which school they will be attending in the Fall, each student should sign up for their individual college placement test. Students should contact their individual college to find out how to complete placement testing. To register for placement testing at any UW College, and for more information regarding UW College placement testing, please visit the following website: https://testing.wisc.edu/centerpages/regionaltesting.html

Work Permits
If a work permit is needed, please see Mrs. Ingersoll in the counseling center. You will need $10 cash, your social security card, and a letter from the employer stating that you will be working there. If Mrs. Ingersoll is not available, you can get a work permit from city hall.
