Let Our People Go! Protest at the Richmond Immigration Detention Center

Join Kehilla Immigration Committee and Our Family Coalition, FOR JUST ONE HOUR. This is a multi-faith, accessible-for-all-ages action to call for an end to the detention/deportation and mass incarceration of our communities and neighbors. Bring signs and noisemakers to let those being interned—and forced to work—know we have not forgotten them. Let’s show up now! We're cleaning out the Kehilla Lost & Found Closet, so if you think you have items in there please come by before Friday, July 20, 2018. After that all leftover items will be donated to Goodwill.

Community Gathering to Celebrate Sandra Razieli

After 16 years, Sandra Razieli is stepping down as the Director of Kehilla’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program. Sandra has been a gift to Kehilla. She has deepened and expanded an extraordinary Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program, one that has provided deep learning, meaning and Jewish connection to hundreds of teenagers and their families. Nourishing Ourselves Wisely with Qigong – An Introductory Series with Diana Lion
Four Consecutive Tuesdays, Aug 14 - Sept 4, 6:30-8:30pm
Come join us for a 4-week relaxing Qigong class series. Qigong is an embodied form of meditation, which acts on all aspects of the body, mind, spirit, and life force. This series is a wonderful way to nourish ourselves as we address what’s happening in the wider world, as well as help us prepare for the upcoming High Holy Days. Drumming As Prayer

At Kehilla, we are creating an intergenerational drum group, called Ketzev Kehilla, (the Beats of Kehilla), and we have been learning some of the rhythms for the Kehilla melodies and also drumming at our Chai Shabbat services. Those who wish to will have the opportunity to drum for our Rosh Hashonah morning service at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland. Learn more here, and register here

We are forming affinity groups at Kehilla for people to think more about race and racism in our lives and community. The groups are: Jews of Color; white people; white parents of kids of Color, parents of Color and multiracial parents, and Jews of Sephardi and Mizrahi descent. People Experiencing Homelessness
Please help Tayla Husbands-Hankin support our homeless population by donating tents, blankets, tarps & socks! A large box is located by the sanctuary door at Kehilla. Please fill it with listed items only . Talya will pick up the items periodically and deliver them to people who need them. Pickup is on pause until Tuesday morning. Questions? Sue Goldberg needs to find a new place to live within the next month in N. Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito or Albany areas. Shared housing or a private apartment on the ground floor, or in a building with an elevator. Needs to have a fairly modern bathroom and a good heating system. Should only be a 2-3 steps to get to it, but preferably no steps or stairs.
