As we approach the midway point to an eventful year, I am excited to announce the release of our next Drive Safely Work Week™ (DSWW) campaign which is sure to resonate with many. Within the next few days, be on the lookout for our latest module on the subject of
backing and parking
. Backing and parking crashes represent a significant challenge for most employers.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 20% of all reported vehicle crashes occur in parking lots
. Since many parking lot collisions involve only property damage, many often go unreported so the real number is likely much higher. I encourage you to look carefully through the campaign materials and distribute to drivers throughout your organization.
Mid-year also finds us
in
full swing planning our annual NETS Strength IN Numbers
®
Benchmark conferenc
e scheduled
for October 10
th
and 11
th
in Frisco, Texas. Our latest
early-bird registration
notice was recently launched containing details on conference keynote speakers. The 2018 NETS Conference is expected to be another
can’t-miss
road safety
event for members and non-members alike. Sign up before June 30
th
to lock-in our lowest registration rates of the year.
Thanks again for your commitment to road safety and wish you continued success with your road safety endeavors.

Do Traffic Cameras Really Make Streets Safer?
They are despised by drivers and many lawmakers. If this is the way they are going to use technology, you may be tempted to say, perhaps we’d all be better off if they took the cameras out. But would we? Let’s stop and think about it for a minute.
