Congratulations to the New First Graders!
On Graduation Day, June 13th, Cedar Hill Prep Kindergarten students donned their caps and gowns and excitedly marched down the aisle to the melody of "Pomp and Circumstance." The Kindergartners' performances included introductions, the singing of songs and reciting of poetry, all of which displayed an enormous growth of confidence and achievement within the graduates.

Second graders competed in a Subtraction Fact Face-Off to showcase their math fact fluency and to earn points for their respective Houses. Throughout the school year, students practiced their facts through game play, drill, and independent practice.

. The children seized the opportunity to explore the properties of this material first-hand after mixing together cornstarch and water. They were fascinated when the oobleck balls they formed began dripping from their fingers, simply by loosening their grips!

Grades 1 - 3 Awards Ceremony
On June 12th, teachers and parents celebrated student accomplishments and achievements at the annual end of year Awards Ceremony. Students at Cedar Hill Prep are involved in a wide variety of activities in and out of the classroom. They participate in spelling bees, athletics, world languages, music, drama, art, and science fairs, to name just a few.

Grade 7 Student Ranks #1 in Computer Science Competition
Grade 7 student Avi Gupta and his team of 5 friends ranked #1 in New Jersey in the 2019 American Computer Science League (ACSL). Also on May 25, 2019, Avi participated in the ACSL All Star Contest, Junior Division. His team ranked 7th in the World. This competition had over 300 teams participating from the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Grade 5 - 7 Awards Ceremony
On Wednesday evening, June 12th, Grades 5, 6, and 7 were honored on stage for their extraordinary achievements. Awards ranged from perfect attendance, year-long honor roll, school athletic achievements, talent show winners, and academic competitions. In addition, students received awards for high rankings in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, National Geography Bee, and the National History Bee.

Congratulations to the National French Contest winners!
This is the first year students of Cedar Hill Prep participated in the
National French Contest, Le Grand Concours,
an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take an online test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes. Grades 1-6 participate in the FLES Contest. Grades 7-12 in the Secondary Contest.

Spanish Language Honor Society
On June 7th, 2019, CHP inducted our students into the
Spanish Language Honor Society, Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad (SHA)
.
The purpose of the SHA is to recognize high achievement in Spanish courses at the Middle School level. The Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad is a nationally recognized honor society for students who excel in the study of Spanish. As “Los Patriotas” chapter, we want to promote Spanish as a language and culture in the Cedar Hill Prep Middle School and community through Community Service and Celebration.

National Recognition for Excellent Performance in the 2019 National Spanish Examinations
Congratulations to the Spanish-language students at Cedar Hill Prep School who have attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2019 National Spanish Examinations. The National Spanish Examinations are the most widely used tests of Spanish in the United States. In the spring of 2019, over 146,000 students participated in the National Spanish Examinations.

Cedar Hill Prep Students Advance to Nationals in Chicago!
Cedar Hill Prep School congratulates its twenty-three students who flew to Chicago from June 7th – 10th to participate in the National Finals of the International Academic Competitions in the History Bee, Science Bee, Academic Bee, Geography Bee, Geography Olympiad, and History Bowl. Having advanced from the Regional Competitions to the National Finals, these CHP students were thrilled to have an opportunity to join approximately 1600 students at this next level of competition.

National Science League
Second, third and fourth grade students of Cedar Hill Prep participate in National Science League every year. The students compete with other students on the same grade level from schools all over the United States. The contest is comprised of multiple choice questions which are based on factual knowledge as well as students’ understanding of scientific processes. This year our second grade was ranked 7th out of the 19 schools that participated. Third grade was ranked 5th out of the 30 schools that participated and fourth grade was ranked 24th out of the 38 schools that participated. Congratulations to the teachers, students and parents for their dedication and effort!

House Cup
After a last minute victory in the Junior Olympic 800 Meter Relay Race, the Cherokee Bears won the 2018-2019 House Cup for the 2nd year in a row. The Lenape Owls finished in 2nd place, just 30 points behind, followed by the Ramapo Falcons and then the Shawnee Beavers. Great job to the Cherokee Bears who were led this year by 8th graders Priyansh, Abhiram and Aleena.

CHP finished off the year with our
Jr. Olympics Relay Races among the houses! In the 1st- 4th grade relay, Ramapo took 1st place, followed by Cherokee, then Lenape and Shawnee. In the Middle School relay, Shawnee took home 1st, followed by Ramapo, Lenape and Cherokee. It was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone! Congratulations to all of the runners!

Cedar Hill Prep celebrated the last staff birthdays of this academic year. Mrs. Davidson, Mrs. Donna Jones, Mrs. Jill Stropoli, Mrs. Priya Kheny, and Mr. Oliver Mirot celebrated their birthdays in June. The third graders sang to the staff members and presented each with a card signed by the CHP staff...wishing them fabulous birthdays and a fantastic summer. Third graders will continue to spread their cheer next year in September.
