The Osage Beach Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Aldermen recently passed updated zoning regulations pertaining to a new industry recognized by the State of Missouri – Medical Marijuana, now Article XIV of the Missouri Constitution. The City began preparations a few months ago, beginning with a public forum, to address the needed changes to the zoning code to accommodate the new regulations of this industry, ahead of the State application process. Zoning updates included where establishments dispensing, manufacturing, cultivation, or testing can be placed within the City.
The next step for the City is to review additional code updates as it pertains to law enforcement, building codes and nuisance, and employment. The City has approached this topic proactively with an emphasis in transparency, and in an effort to stay ahead of the State’s various deadlines.
