UI Spring 2019 commencement

University of Iowa International Programs worked with a group of international students and staff members to film the Spring 2019 commencement ceremonies, featuring commentary in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. Videos are available here to demonstrate the internationalization of the campus and our welcoming, inclusive approach to education.

The UI's 3D program turns heads internationally
Led by art prof essor Monica Correia (99MA, 00MFA), the UI's 3D design program has been invited to exhibit at Milan Design Week each year since 2014. This spring in Milan, ten students took part in the Ventura Future exhibition, who spent the week exchanging business cards with industry leaders and ideas with peers from major international design academies. The UI ranked top higher education patent producers worldwide
The UI is ranked for the first time on a list of the top 100 producers of utility patents among higher education institutions worldwide. T he rankings , published by the National Academy of Inventors, ranks the UI at 79, with 31 patents granted in 2018. The information for the rankings was based on data provided by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Learn more.

Fulbright awardees
A record number of UI students have been awarded Fulbright U.S. Student Program grants for 2019-20, on the basis of academic or professional achievement, and demonstrated leadership potential. Learn more.

Iowa dentistry goes to
Adana, Turkey
Less than two years after studying together at the UI College of Dentistry , Lucas Borg and John Lorenz found themselves last fall reuniting 6,000 miles from Iowa City as they began separate, yearlong assignments at Incirlik Air Base near the city of Adana, Turkey. Learn more.
UI art museum to build on
decades of brilliance
Funding for the new art museum will come from a mix of private support and bonds. The late Richard (Dick) and Mary Jo Stanley, of Muscatine, Iowa, committed $10 million to support the building campaign. In honor of the gift, the museum was renamed the UI Stanley Museum of Art. Learn more.
With our world interconnected now more than ever, the next generation of leaders must be globally minded. With the assistance of the UI Office of Strategic Communication, International Programs recently created a  video that provides an overview of the exciting ways we help to connect Iowa with the world and the world with Iowa.
VIRTUAL HOMECOMING
For those that can't make it back to campus to celebrate Homecoming 2019 in person, Virtual Homecoming 2019 is a chance to keep the Hawkeye spirit alive abroad by sharing a homecoming message  with the UI community, regardless of where you are in the world.
