Clermont County Fair celebrates 170 years, July 21-27
|
Join the fun July 21-27 at the 170th Clermont County Fair. For just $10 per day (weekly passes available), you can enjoy rides, entertainment, exhibits, food and more.
There's free admission on Sunday, July 21, with a special Vietnam Veteran Program at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Building.
Current or former members of our Armed Forces get in free all week with a military ID. Wednesday is Senior Citizens Day ($3 for seniors 60+, no ride privileges).
Country music superstar Easton Corbin will perform the night of Friday, July 26.

Acting County Engineer appointed
|
In a special session on July 1, the Board of County Commissioners today voted 3-0 to appoint Jeremy P. Evans as acting County Engineer. Evans, a Union Township resident, has served as traffic engineer in the Clermont County Engineer’s Office since 2005. He has Ohio Professional Engineer and Ohio Professional Surveyor registrations, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Land Surveying Certificate from Cincinnati State College.

|
The 1st Annual Veterans & Family Picnic will take place 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Batavia Township Community Center, 1535 Clough Pike, Batavia.
Free food, drinks and kids' gifts, live music, kids fishing tournament, Shroom from WEBN, corn hole... and more.

Commissioners salute first responders, workers
|
|
Commissioners on June 26 honored five first responders and frontline workers nominated by the Clermont County Opiate Task Force for the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities CARES Award. Karen Scherra, the Executive Director of the Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board, read a highlight from each of the five nominations for treatment, law enforcement and court representatives before the commissioners presented them (or the person who nominated them) with certificates. Scherra explained that the statewide organization honored one nominee per county with a CARES Award. Sheriff Steve Leahy represented Clermont County.

Many options for paying real estate tax bills
|
About 42,400 second half real estate tax bills were mailed on June 7, according to Clermont County Treasurer Jeannie M. Zurmehly. The deadline for payment, without penalty, is July 10.
Taxes can be paid by mail or in person at the Treasurer’s Office on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 101 E. Main Street, Batavia, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Monday-Friday. Taxes may also be paid by credit card or e-check at www.clermonttreasurer.org or by phone at 1-800-272-9829.
A night deposit is located at the Main Street entrance of the Administration Building for payment of taxes after hours.
Taxpayers with questions may call 513-732-7254 or email Treasurer@clermontcountyohio.gov.

Meet & Greet/Adoption Event with The Asher House. This amazing organization has been on
The Ellen Show for its work across the country promoting pet adoption!
This month, the shelter is offering adoption specials: $50 for
dogs ($200 for puppies) and $10 for
cats ($60 for kittens-2nd kitten friend free with first). Includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip.

Free daytime events for families
|
|
Looking for something fun to do with the kids? Check out the
Community Play Date at the Clermont YMCA pool, 10 a.m.-noon, July 13. Admission is free. (Parents must remain present with children in the pool.) There's also a Community Play Date at Batavia Township Park on Aug. 10 and a Play, Learn, Grow and Early Literacy Event at Miami Township Library on Sept. 21. Both events, 10 a.m.-noon.

Sycamore Park
Free sessions of Yoga in the Park return this summer. All skill levels are welcome to enjoy the fresh morning air and lesson by certified instructors from Clermont County’s East Cincy Yoga. A limited number of mats are available on a first come, first served basis. You must bring a water bottle. Sessions will continue every Saturday from June 1 to Aug. 31. No RSVP required.

Make plans to spend some time in the Clermont County Public Library this summer. It’s a good place to cool off and many fun activities are planned.
- Escape Room Challenge: Escape the 80, Williamsburg Library July 1 with hour sessions starting at 1 p.m. and July 17 with sessions starting at 1 p.m.
- Kids can learn the science of crime with this forensics program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Union Township.
- Kids can maintain their skills by reading to a dog that loves to hear stories, 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through July 31 at Amelia. Call to make an appointment, 752-5580.
- Slaves from the pre-Civil War South devised all kinds of ways to escape from bondage. Learn how at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Owensville.
