Summertime

The first mowing of the season is behind us, and the fields are returning to normal after two years of construction machines and piles of lumber and other materials. The summer of 2019 continues to promise a peaceful return to the life we once took for granted. We're enjoying our new barn and becoming accustomed to new ways of dealing with everyday things. It is good.

After a weekend on Cape Cod, where we had a successful show in Orleans, w e took a brief holiday in Montreal to celebrate our 35th anniversary . Our summer schedule still holds two shows:  the Tiverton Four Corners Show this week (see below), and Midweek in Manchester on August 7. Click the links in the sidebar for more complete information.

We'd also like to remind you that our shop will be open every Sunday through Labor Day weekend. Of course, we're more than happy to open our doors at any other time. A call ahead is always a good idea.

You'll find new listings below, as well as a reprise of a featured piece from a decade ago, and the usual stuff.

This month's new listings

We've just added twenty fresh pieces to our website, including furniture, jewelry, smalls, and paintings, including two works by Virginia Precourt. Click on the picture to see them.

A Look Back

We found this detailed model of a Tudor house at Brimfield in 2009, and wrote about it in one of that year's newsletters. Since our readership has grown greatly during the past decade, we thought it might be a good time to offer it again. Click the picture to go inside this little gem.

We just traded side chairs in our bedroom, and you might be able to guess who wanted to be the first to try them out. Click his nose.

The Back Page

Montreal's peaceful  Jardin Botanique, in the shadow of the stadium built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, contains two exceptional Asian gardens. In one, the Japanese Garden, is a large and varied collection of bonsai trees. Having just completed the update of our Tudor House piece above, these extraordinary miniatures made a connection. Click on the picture to see a one of our favorites.
Thanks for being a newsletter reader. We'd love to see you in Conway this summer if you're around.
