Led by people who are navigating the journey themselves, our online community empowers individuals to share frustrations, wisdom, and encouragement with each other in a safe and supportive environment.

Gastric Cancer Foundation Funds Important Stomach Cancer Research
The Gastric Cancer Foundation has awarded a $75,000 research grant to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The grant will be used to support research efforts and develop new therapies for peritoneal carcinomatosis — an aggressive metastasis of gastric cancer.

There's always new and exciting news in gastric cancer research. Here are a few of the latest highlights:

Eliminating the bacteria H. pylori from the gastrointestinal tract lowers the risk of gastric cancer by 75%, according to a recent study in the journal Gastrointestinal Cancer.

Researchers at the University of Melbourne in Australia have developed a potential method for stopping the growth of stomach tumors by neutralizing a gene receptor called FZD7.

A blood test that's under development was able to identify more than 20 tumor types, including stomach cancer, with up to 93% accuracy. The test works by spotting abnormal methylation in cell-free DNA, which is genetic material from tumors that is released into the bloodstream.
