Note from our Executive Director

"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, by A.A. Milne

It is hard to believe that it has been a month already since we said goodbye to our Reading Buddies and wished them all that is good for their futures. Many of us will be fortunate to see our young charges in the Fall as we begin again with 2 new students. They will greet us with excitement and joy of the memories of our days together and wish for us to once again share time with them.   Read more >>>

Book Buddies News

When last month's Book Buddies News went online, our annual Book Celebrations in the schools had concluded. But we didn't yet have photos of the events.
Here's a taste of the proceedings.

The Spurs organization generously gave us 400 backpack bags so the kids could more easily carry home the books they had selected. At Hirsch Elementary they had a choice of Spurs or Rampage bags, and business was brisk for both teams. They loved their backpacks! Read more here >>

Donor Spotlight

As SAYL reaches the end of its fiscal year, we want to take the opportunity to once again thank those who have been so supportive of our organization. For all our individual  Friends of SAYL who made donations this year; for those who participated in the Big Give campaign; for the numerous foundations who awarded grants to support our SAYL Reading Buddy Program; and for those who participated in our numerous special events - from our Fall Luncheon, to our 1st Annual Golf Tournament, to the annual Sip & Spell and other events held at Cherrity Bar, to the Cocktails for a Cause, and to the events at California Pizza, Willie's Bar & Grill, Tiffs Treats, an Alex & Ani - we thank you so much. Your support enables us to continue to deliver our very successful tutor/mentor program to youth in the San Antonio community. We couldn't do it without your help.
