I had a great time Wednesday evening attending the graduation dinner for the 2019 class of Glendale University 101. Participants in the ten-week course learn about the inner workings of all the city departments -- directly from department heads and other key staff. Classes are held at different locations throughout the city and include a wide variety of hands on experiences as well. I strongly encourage everyone who is interested in the city to enroll in Glendale University 101. I will announce the next available class when registration opens - so watch this space!
Thank you to those who have already shared your ideas regarding what should be included in a vision for our district, and our city, for the next 2-5-7 years. For the rest of you, don't fret, there is still time to send me your thoughts about where we should be heading in all aspects related to the city that interest you - recreation, transportation, culture, commerce, etc.
Monday is Veteran's Day and you are invited to attend the City's Veteran's Day ceremony which will begin at 9 A.M at our Veteran's Memorial on the grounds of our main library at 59th Avenue and Brown Street. Additional details and a link are below.
One of the many benefits that the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) provides our community is information on designing beautiful and water-wise landscaping for our specific climate. Our new
Plants for the Arizona Desert website, an extension of the popular booklet Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert, is easy to navigate, modern, and visual appealing as it highlights over 200 desert friendly plants through high-quality photos that allow you to see each plant in multiple views, which will make planning your yard that much easier.

I apologize for the broken link in last week's column. If you would like to learn more about the History of Salt River Project click on this link.
Have a great weekend!
