Earlier today, the Learning Policy Institute (LPI) hosted
"Bridging the Divide: School Integration Designs,
" where they released two new reports on school integration:
"Understanding the Federal Role in Protecting Student Civil Rights: A Focus on School Diversity"
profiles successful integration models across the country, and examine
s the importance of the federal role in protecting the civil rights of students.
A second report, "Sharing the Wealth: How Regional Finance and Desegregation Plans Can Enhance Educational Equity," explores how interdistrict desegregation programs in Boston, MA; Hartford, CT; and Omaha, NE have been designed, financed, and implemented.

Being a Teaching Tolerance advisor is a great way to give back to the education community, learn more about our work and network with other anti-bias educators. The board was established in 2011 to help ensure that educational materials are relevant and reflect the diverse needs of educators working in school communities across the country. The board consists of classroom teachers, staff developers, librarians, school counselors and administrators who are currently active in K-12 education, including people working at the university level in teacher preparation programs.

INYC students hope to further develop their prototype into a fully-functioning equity-based choice algorithm to serve all 300,000 NYC public high school students.
