Dear friends!
We hope your June was at least as half busy as ours! Let us brag a little bit about the COJECO RSJ Symposium for communal professionals we just organized. A group of amazing and dedicated professionals working to strengthen the Russian-speaking Jewish communities across the US and Canada gathered to network, share and learn. The energy in the room was palpable, the ideas were flowing and let us assure you: our community has great leaders who are smart, knowledgeable and creative. So many amazing things happening in our community and we're excited to see what's next!

JEvents NY and NJ Mobile App. This project gathers and presents Jewish events and programs of interest to the Russian-speaking Jews in a single user-friendly app. NY/NJ edition of JEvents was developed as a COJECO BluePrint Fellowship project by Elizaveta Pantiukhova.

Songs of Our Journey - presented by COJECO BluePrint Project Series
Project of Yafa Borukhova
We are excited to share with you a musical performance of Yiddish, Russian, Bukharian, and Ladino songs performed by mezzo-soprano, Yaffa Borukhova and guests. The photographs that will accompany the traditional songs will further tell the story of Jews of the Former Soviet Union and the surrounding regions in diaspora.
Reception will follow after the show.

COJECO Blueprint Project Series: This Side of the Sea

"A young woman struggles with understanding her inherited fears, and moving through urban America as a Jew, as current events threaten to drown her in the currents of the past".
This Side of the Sea is an animated short film developed to explore intergenerational trauma in America's Russian-speaking Jewish immigrant community, and start
to close a generational gap in the understanding of our past.

The Fifth Paragraph (Пятая графа*)
The Fifth Paragraph is a theatrical multimedia experience that tells a story of immigration. Based on COJECO BluePrint Alimni Olia Toporovsky's journey to New Haven, CT from the Former Soviet Union, the narrative is presented through the eyes of a ten year-old girl. The performance combines video installation, live music, and interactive theater. Featuring, Pablo Vergara on piano and Abraham Gomez-Delgado on voice, guitar and percussion.

Are You in Need of Financial Assistance?
The Hebrew Free Loan Society (HFLS) may be able to help.
For 125 years, HFLS has been providing 0% interest loans to low- and moderate-income New Yorkers in need. Loans are available for emergency and personal needs, higher education, vocational school, small business start-up or expansion, fertility treatments, adoption, and more. All HFLS loans have no interest, no fees, and reasonable repayment terms.
HFLS a non-profit, UJA-Federation core partner agency.

Russian-speaking Facilitators Needed for
Virtual Senior Center Program
Using simple video-chat technology, homebound seniors participate in online programs facilitated by volunteers in a wide-ranging array of topics. Volunteers lead recurring classes from their home or office computer with a range of flexible scheduling options during the day, evening or weekend. Facilitating one hour, interactive classes on diverse topics enables you and the homebound seniors to have meaningful interactions.
Selfhelp is looking for Russian-speaking facilitators for the Virtual Senior Center, to participate
in one hour
class (on any topic that facilitator chooses: music and art appreciation, history, current events, seated exercise, games, health/wellness, sports, the sciences, cultures, travel, and literature. Any new ideas are welcome!)
