Meningitis Exclusion Dates
An email was sent out in May regarding requirement for the 12th grade meningitis vaccine. A flyer was also sent out to all parents by their home school with the exclusion dates. The vaccine clinic held at the North Building during schedule pickup was very well attended; however, there are many students who have still not received this vaccine.

EACH HOME SCHOOL WILL HAVE AN EXCLUSION DATE in which you will not be allowed to attend DACC if excluded by homeschool due to not having this vaccine. These are the exclusions dates we have received so far:

o Westerville: September 6, 2018
o Buckeye Valley: September 6, 2018
o Delaware Hayes: September 14, 2018
o Worthington: September 24, 2018
o Olentangy: September 28, 2018
o Big Walnut: October 1, 2018
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences will be held on September 27th. We welcome all parents to meet with their child's teacher.

Please sign up for a conference using the links below:
South Campus Parking Lot Update
As students and parents come back to Delaware Area Career Center South Campus, you'll notice that our building looks a lot different. As we all celebrate this current phase of the new building, the flow of our parking lot will remain the same.

All visitors to the building will use the access road on Peachblow Road. Students will still have an assigned area to park. Visitor parking and Handicap parking are still located next to the building and our bus lanes will be in the same place to help make our public transportation safe and smooth for everyone involved.

Also, similar to years past, students will need to complete the Driving Privilege Form to be able to park at DACC.  Any parking lot offenses made by
a student may result in disciplinary actions. Types of offences include, but are not limited to:
  • Parking without a permit
  • Parking in an unauthorized area
  • Reckless Driving
If you plan to either drop off or pick up your student, please do so in North-West corner of the parking lot, located by the Law Enforcement entrance.  It is important that vehicles do not park in front of the bus lanes. Our home school busses need to stay on schedule in order to get our students back to their home schools on time.

Lastly, for students and visitors who need to travel southbound on Route 23 when leaving South Campus, we recommend that you take Glenn Parkway to Ohio Health Blvd. While this is a little out of your way, it is much safer and likely will save you time because of the traffic light located at the intersection of Rt. 23 and Ohio Health Blvd.
Throughout the year, if you have any questions or concerns about our parking lot, please contact me at (740) 201-3221 or at [email protected] .

I hope all is well and I am looking forward to a great school year.

Dean of Students at South Campus
Signs of Suicide Prevention Program
To better align with our home school districts, Delaware Area Career Center, in partnership with Helpline, is excited to be offering a Signs of Suicide Program at both North and South Campuses on October 1st-3rd. This program will take place for all juniors on-campus during their scheduled lab times for 40 minutes a day.

Learn more about this award-winning, nationally recognized program on our website.

If you do not wish to have your son or daughter participate in this 3-day event held at both campuses, please fill out this form and return it to North or South Campus to David Gilliam, Student Services Supervisor. Delaware Area Career Center will accommodate a supervised area to those students opting out of the program.
Honeywell Instant Alert Information
Knowing how important it is for you to be kept informed, DACC uses the Honeywell Instant Alert System to contact families quickly and effectively. This system will be used when there is a need for quick communication to be delivered to parents or guardians by telephone, cell phone, text message or e-mail, in any combination. Examples of this may be a school closing or delay, student absences, or general activities at the DACC.

This internet-based system will help each family to maintain up-to-date contact information through a secure, password protected online site. At the beginning of the school year, DACC loads the system with your home phone number, as given to the DACC on the enrollment application form. This is the phone number that will be called by default by the Instant Alert System. If you would like to change this number or add additional numbers go to https://instantalert.honeywell.com and set up the personal information, including phone numbers and emails, you want the Instant Alert System to use. You will need to complete this each year, even if your student is a returnee. We run a system test in September so you will receive a test message to verify that the system is working.

Your online personal profile will enable you to:
  • Input your personal contact information if you want more than one device such as cell phones, work phones, email and/or text messaging to be used to contact you;
  • Check the system and send yourself a test text message to make sure your text messaging contact information is entered correctly;
  • Add contact information of other caretakers of your children, such as a grandparent or a neighbor, that you would want to be notified;
  • Update changes anytime to your personal contact information.
You can access procedure sheets for updating your profile at http://www.delawareareacc.org/high-school/students-parents/honeywell. You can log into your personal profile at any time after September 10th. If you need assistance with your profile, please send an email to [email protected].

Delaware General Health Announcement on
E-Cigarettes

On behalf of the Delaware General Health District, we are sharing information with our families about JUULs and how to identify them.  Tobacco use in any form is against the law in any Ohio school. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office has noted that many times students lace JUULS and other vaping devises with THC a strong chemical found in many drugs.

Please visit Delaware General Health District's web site for more information:
Sophomore Visit Days - Start Planning Now
Each year, the Delaware Area Career Center has the exciting opportunity to host visits from area 10th grade students. This year the visitations are scheduled for:
  • Friday, November 16th
  • Monday, November 19th
  • Tuesday, November 20th
All staff will be involved in the organizing, presenting and making of engaging learning experiences for the visiting students. Your child will be doing one of three activities on these days:
   o Attend school as a helper (only if asked by their instructor)
   o Job shadow a professional in their chosen field of study.
       *Lab instructors are willing to assist with placements.
   o  Attend a college visit

These days will count as days of attendance. Therefore, if your son/daughter does not participate, he or she will be marked absent and will not receive credit.

More specifics to come in October.

Please note: DACC will be closed the rest of that week (November 21st-November 23rd) for Thanksgiving.
Parent Procedure for Creating a New Powerschool Account
