On October 1-4, 2018, three NBCA pastors and their wives attended the MMBB Strategic Pastoral Excellence Program in Orlando, Florida. These three NBCA couples, Corresponding Secretary Dr. Kevin and Kimberly Donalson of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, VA; Pastor Charlie and Shamela Williams of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, FL and Pastor Aaron X. and Lydia Marble of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, joined others from the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention and National Baptist Convention USA to participate in the program.
The MMBB Strategic Pastoral Excellence Program is designed to help pastors better manage their finances as well as the finances of the church and guide them in a direction where they will be able to me day retire with dignity. As a part of the program each couple is given a Financial Advisor who will walk through different aspects of their financial lives to include: debt reduction, retirement planning, investments and goals for the future.
According to Dr. Donalson, "This is a program that will be beneficial to any pastor. No matter where you are. Whether you are just starting or have been pastoring for some time this is needed. To many pastors have not prepared themselves for the future and MMBB through a very generous gift from the Lilly Foundation is trying to stem the tide. I recommend EVERY pastor in NBCA sign up for this program."
