Hello, library friends --
Happy November, everyone! What a treat to start the month with such beautiful weather. I hope you're able to get outside and enjoy it!
Today is Election Day, of course, and our poll workers have been busy all day with voters. Before today there were about 1300 registered voters here in Mercer, and our town clerk, Debbie Hohner, just told me we've already had over 1000 voters today (including absentee ballots) and there are still 3 hours of polling time left. It's great to see so many people turn out to participate in our democracy.
The library is still holding all events online, and we have book clubs and classes lined up for you all month. Read on for some of the highlights or visit our website and Facebook for the latest news.
Take care of yourselves and your neighbors, everyone - we're all in this together!

Kombucha 101
Kombucha is an ancient drink, a form of fermented tea first brewed in China 2,000 years ago and popular all over the world. Some people believe kombucha to be a health drink, while others drink it for the refreshing, fruity flavors. Whatever it is, there’s no question that the popularity of kombucha is on the rise in the United States.
Your librarian started brewing kombucha earlier this year and will talk about how you can make your own kombucha, too. Learn about the simple equipment and ingredients you’ll need and how to flavor a fizzy, delicious drink. Join us on Thursday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m. for this free online class. Visit www.mercerpubliclibrary.org/events and click on the event in the calendar for the meeting link.
