Celebrate World Communion Sunday
All three worship services at 8, 9:30 and 11 am will include a World Communion Sunday celebration. One Sunday every year, we break bread together as a church with the knowledge that we join Christians all over the world at the Lord's Table. PVUMC has an Open Table, where all are welcome to partake. This Sunday is also a Special Giving Sunday to help fund scholarships for students. Use the special envelopes we have on Sunday or give online at

Pastor's Message
Dear Friend in Faith,
I wanted to take a moment to lift up our incredible Celebration Sunday event last weekend.
Between the powerful worship experiences and the festive meals we shared with one another, it was a touching reminder of what I love about our church. I am utterly confident that people connected with God and with one another in a real way, and I'm sure that we all are grateful to call this our church home. We had over one hundred more people join us for this special Sunday than we did last year!
A Sunday like that doesn't happen on its own, however, and I wanted to particularly recognize the efforts of our music ministry team and groups, who put together an impressive musical program for us to enjoy. And of course I am incredibly thankful for our welcome ministry team, who organized our "neighborhood feast" down in the Fellowship Center. Finally, I'd like to thank all of the people who participated in small (but important!) ways - as ushers, greeters, parking lot attendants, and much more. What a wonderful testament to the work we can accomplish when we work with one another.
This week we're going to be popping the hood on our new worship series, "Tune Up". Like the engine in our cars, our faith requires certain components to operate correctly....

Wear PVUMC's Mission on Your Heart: God's Love in Action
|
Church Council recently changed our Mission Statement to our tagline:
God's Love in Action
. Now, you can wear your church mission on your heart. Buy a church-branded polo shirt at the church gift shop, Serendipities, and wear it as a conversation starter. The shirt comes in all sizes and is a lightweight weave in royal blue. Gift shop profits help fund missions, so stop by Sunday morning to pick up a shirt and see what else is in the shop -- cards, gifts, decor, books, etc.

New Month, New Journeys Classes
|
If you're not already part of a fall Journeys small group at pvumc and really don't know where to begin, we have a few new classes that may be a good fit for you. Pastor Dave Summers and his wife, Kim, lead an introductory class on Monday nights in the Fireside Room F8. It's a good way to get better acquainted with the UMC, learn how to better discern where God is leading you, and help you find your spiritual gifts.
If you're looking for a new Bible study, join Sam and Vicky Rankin this Sunday as they lead
Journey Through James at 9:30 am in G2, the church library. If you're a parent, and have children or youth attending Sunday School at 9:30 am, check it out. You can worship at 11 am Ignite!
