Extra Edition: Safety Plans, State Assessments
More FCUSD students meeting, exceeding state standards
Folsom Cordova students continue to make gains in literacy and math, outpacing average performance locally and across California, according to state test results released this week.

Among the students in grades 3-8 and 11 who took last spring's Smarter Balanced assessments last spring - one part of California's comprehensive testing program - 64% of students met or exceeded English-language arts standards. That's up 5% in the past two years.

In math, 53% of students met or exceeded rigorous math standards, up 3% in the past two years.

Among additional highlights:

  • Some of our most challenged schools and student populations, where we invest additional academic and enrichment resources, experienced continued growth.
  • These test results highlight challenge areas that require increased focus.
  • The District's renewed focus on the "ABCs" - Attendance, Budget, and Culture - will help FCUSD strengthen conditions for continued learning success.

Learn about the District's Safety Action Plan on Oct. 29
We listened to you, and we're taking action. In the spring of 2018, Folsom Cordova held a series of forums for families, students, staff, community members, first responders and safety experts to come together and brainstorm improvements to school safety. The result of that collaboration is a comprehensive plan that provides a roadmap for short-term and long-term actions that will bolster school safety.
