AMBASSADOR
Waterville UMC News
July, 2019
Dear Church Family,

Each year we share in the celebration of the freedom that is ours due to the courage of the leaders that drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence. The pilgrims risked everything including their lives to escape persecution as Christians. We as present day Christians still enjoy the freedom of worship due to the willingness of so many to put their lives on the line.

In Galatians 5:1 Paul writes, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (NIV) Paul is stating clearly that Jesus came to set us free from the yoke of slavery, the yoke of bondage due to sin and separation from God.

This freedom that we receive in Jesus is more than simple salvation. Jesus sets us free to all that God has created us to be. Set free to love others and to be loved; loved in spite of our imperfections.

There is another truth in Paul’s letter, the statement to stand firm. We are set free in our soul and spirit from the power of sin and the power of this world to control our lives. The way to then overcome this control begins with standing firm.

This is the time that we must stand firm. Standing firm in these days of God’s spirit calling us to go into the world with the message of freedom in Jesus. Standing firm in faith as all the details are worked out for the new building. Standing firm as the Holy Spirit guides our congregation in ministry in our community.

As we stand firm in our faith we must remember that a life of faith is one of action. Our action will require our total trust in God for God leads us to accomplish extraordinary acts of love. Are you standing firm in your faith? Is God calling you to take a step of faith which may not make any sense or defies worldly logic? Stand firm in your faith and take the step that will lead you into the very presence of God.

Experience the incredible freedom found only in a life of faith in God through trusting God in every part of your life. Be blessed as you freely discover a life filled with joy through Jesus.

Finance & Stewardship
Facts, Figures, FYI’s
Thank You:
Pastor Mike and the Leadership Team would like to thank you for your generosity and willingness to share your financial resources. May God continue to bless each of you and this congregation, as we work together doing His work of sharing the good news with others.

Summer Giving:
Historically our General Fund giving normally drops off during the summer months as many of us are out of town on vacations or away enjoying other summer-time activities. Unfortunately expenses continue each month regardless of the amount of income we receive, so we ask you to please consider this issue and the timeliness of your contributions.

Quarterly Statements:
Your 2nd Quarter Giving Statements will be emailed on Saturday, July 13th. For those who receive hard copies, they will be available for your pick-up on Sunday, July 14th on the shelf outside the Church Office.

If you currently receive a hard copy of your quarterly giving statement, you may want to consider using our optional and cost saving method of receiving them via email. We simply attach a PDF file to an email, which you may print or file electronically. If you would like to participate in this program or obtain additional information, please contact Tom Wiggins financialsec@watervilleumc.org or the Church Office wumcoffice@watervilleumc.org .

Also, if you are not aware, The Ambassador monthly newsletter and a weekly church news update, affectionately known as the “Friday Blaster” are both sent via email. If you currently do not receive these and would like to, please contact the church office with your email address.

“Loving Provider, help us to save and spend wisely so we can give generously, as You give to us each day. AMEN”

JULY
SCHOOL AND HYGIENE KITS
This year the Missions Committee is focusing on both Hygiene Kits and School Kits for July and August, rather than assigning one type of kit during these two months.

In the face of natural disasters, violence, and grinding poverty,  Hygiene Kits  can mean the difference between sickness and health for struggling families; and School Kits  can give children in these impoverished communities and refugee camps some of the basic tools for learning.

Your support makes a tremendous difference in the lives of so many people both here at home and around the world.

Each kit represents a person whose life will be changed because of the simple items contained within. Please donate only the items from the lists below. The Festival of Sharing is very particular that items be the same in each kit.
Our most needed Kits! These little kits are jam-packed with supplies to help keep people clean and healthy.
