Marjory Stoneman Douglas Finishes in 2nd Place at National Competition

On Wednesday, June 19, in Washington, D.C., the JA Fellows Entrepreneurship Company team "Pure Serenity" from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, won second place among 15 JA student companies competing to win the JA Company of the Year at Junior Achievement's (JA) 2019 National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS).

Also competing in Washington D.C. was JA Fellows student team VIBEzzz from NSU University School. It's the fourth consecutive year teams representing Junior Achievement of South Florida have been invited to NSLS.

Summer Employment Spotlight: Rolanda Joins JA's Development Team

As a 10th grader at Dillard High School, Rolanda McFarlane didn't know exactly what her future career goals were until after completing the JA Career Bound program. Having  discovered available career paths and with an interest in coding, she now plans to earn her Associates Degree in Information Technology. 

Meanwhile, she was seeking some work experience. Rolanda is one of nearly 100 high school students participating in JA's Summer Employment Program. Her internship is with JA, where she will use the skills she developed in the JA Career Bound Program to assist the Development Team with event coordination and fundraising efforts.

Student Entrepreneurs Discover Career Success From CEO Mentors

Junior Achievement of South Florida kicked off its JA CEO Mentor Tour with stops at Spirit Airlines and EWM Realty International. President and CEO Laurie Sallarulo arranged for some of our JA Fellows Entrepreneurship students to meet South Florida CEOs in a one-on-one setting to hear their career stories.

JA Featured Job: Grant & Government Relations Manager


Junior Achievement of South Florida is seeking candidates for the Grant & Government Relations Manager position. T his role manages grants and public partnership relationships and works with various intra-organizational departments to enhance funding models and identifies new funders to sustain programs initiatives to advance the JA mission. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Development and works closely with the Vice President of Programs, Marketing Manager, JA Board Members, community partners, donors, mentors and advocates.
