Inclusive Communities: October 2018 Update

Dear Friends,

As many of us are settling back into our fall routines, here at Inclusive Communities, that means jumping right into a whole new season of Lozier Omaha Table Talk, hosting the National Federation for Just Communities Conference, continuing to celebrate our 80th year, and much, much more!

We also look forward to welcoming the first group of students from schools across the Omaha metro area to the 2018-19 IncluCity Camp on October 19!

We've got some great stuff planned for this year, and we hope to see you all at our upcoming events!

Announcing the 2018/2019 Omaha Table Talk Season!

We're off to a great start with the 2018/2019 season of Omaha Table Talk! We kicked off the season with a very timely discussion on the importance of the judicial nomination process at our Courts Matter Table Talk on September 27, and also took the opportunity to get our participants registered to vote!

Then, in partnership with the Omaha Public Library, we had a full house for our October 2 discussion of the novel The Hate U Give, by Angie Thomas, in which a young girl finds her voice and the courage to use it.

Inclusive Communities Hosts NFJC Conference in Omaha

On September 26-29, we had the pleasure of hosting the Annual Leadership Conference for the National Federation for Just Communities. Our hearts and minds were inspired as over 40 of our colleagues from across the country joined us to examine themes of diversity and inclusion.

A highlight of the conference was a Historical Bus Tour led by Gary Kastrick that led us through Omaha's untold history from North to South Omaha.

We Want to Hear from YOU!

Inclusive Communities is proud to participate in an initiative with BluePrint Nebraska to identify community members' views on areas for improvement throughout the state of Nebraska. Blueprint Nebraska's mission is to provide a strategic plan that offers a clear path towards sustained economic prosperity for all. The bottom line: it is attempting to gather data to help state leaders understand what Nebraska's strengths and weaknesses are so that our state can compete more effectively for the next several decades.

Blueprint Nebraska is asking all citizens of Nebraska to complete a Community survey to help gather this data. This survey assures that we are hearing from all Nebraskans, and will help determine the goals that Nebraska should develop for its economic and business future.

This survey takes only about 5 minutes to complete, and your information will be kept confidential and will only be seen by trained researchers at the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center.
