FIFTH GRADE PROJECT C.L.I.C BREAKFAST
The 5th Grade “Chanukah C.L.I.C Program” ( C onnecting L ife I n the days of C hanukah) was celebrated with a grand breakfast. On all eight days of Chanukah, each and every girl said Hallel , did a chesed , and had a technology free hour. All the girls also refrained from reading secular reading materials over Shabbos Chanukah . We are so impressed with the entire 5th grade’s commitment to this special program.
FIFTH GRADE SCIENCE CLASS TEACH SEVENTH AND EIGHT GRADERS
The 5th Grade science classes have been busy learning about waves. In Miss Sarala Lurie’s class , the girls first studied how waves work and then made presentations, lessons and songs that they taught to Mrs. Judy Zapinsky’s and Mrs. Sossie Ansbacher’s 7 th and 8 th Grade science classes . The presentations were informative and exhibited in a fun and creative way.
FIFTH GRADE MOSHLEI HALASHON
The Moshlei Haloshon program produced by the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation empowers our students to recognize and avoid Ona’as Devorim (paining another person with our words or actions). Lessons are comprised of true life stories that help our students learn practical applications of these halachos . A raffle is held each month for those students throughout the country who actively participate in the program. Congratulations to Yehudis Bulka , Shira Elgamil, Dena Greenfield and Henny Skaist , who won last month’s raffle.
SIXTH GRADE SHEEP TO SHAWL
As part of the  6th Grade   Lamed-Tes Melachos  learning, students gain a thorough understanding of the 39 categories of work forbidden on Shabbos. To further this goal, the students were treated to a special  Sheep to Shawl  presentation by  Mrs. Karen Beleck . The demonstration gave the girls a better understanding and appreciation for the 9 steps of cloth-making (including shearing, cleaning, combing, dyeing, spinning and weaving).
SIXTH GRADE CARNIVAL FOR MENUCHA AND JEWELS
Mrs. Rochel Vim’s 6th Grade Chumash class created a joyous carnival for the boys and girls of Menucha and JEWELS . Everyone had a great time going around to different booths which included fishing, sponge toss and even face painting! The yearly carnival provides extraordinary fun and excitement for the visiting boys and girls and a wonderful chesed opportunity for our students.
GEOGRAPHY BEE
The 6th, 7th and 8th Grades came together to participate in our annual National Geographic Geography Bee, spearheaded by Mrs. Grace Weissmann . In advance of the large bee, each social studies and geography teacher administered a class geography bee. The class winners competed publicly for first place. The audience cheered along and encouraged the students on stage. 8th grader Shoshana Schore was the winner and we all wish her success advancing to the statewide bee which will be held in March.
SEVENTH GRADE SHABBOS
Mizmor Shir L’Yom HaShabbos was the theme of this year’s 7th Grade Shabbos . Each class worked harmoniously to create the magnificent display of musical instruments, tables inlaid with white, black and gold decorations, and fun activities. Principal Rabbi Naftoli Hexter gave an impassioned speech about the power of shira and how it unifies us, followed by divrei torah from Hindy Soloff and Aliza Marwick . The food was delicious and the ruach and ambiance were second to none. Thank you Miss Miriam Nelkin for leading the beautiful zemiros . The Shabbos festivities came to a perfect close with class Melaveh Malkas in the homes of our 7th grade teachers.
EIGHTH GRADE PRODUCTION
The 8th Grade production , “Me, Myself and I,” was a smashing success. In this original play written by Mrs. Rochelle Goldberg , a group of high school girls learn the life lesson of being aware of more than just themselves. Their journey was punctuated with meaningful choirs, electrifying dances and an energetic song-dance highlighting the special things done by our Bikur Cholim . The entire 8 th grade came together to produce this magnificent production.
EIGHTH GRADE CHESSED
Miss Ahuva Spetner’s 8 th Grade Class participated in the special mitzvah of kiruv rechokim by making stunning Chanukah packages. These packages were then distributed to 150 JEP of Maryland girls who are not fortunate enough to have a formal Jewish education like our students.
