DOL Proposes Higher Overtime Salary Threshold
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has released its long-anticipated revised "overtime rule." Under the proposed rule, workers earning less than $35,308 would be eligible for overtime payment. While it is anticipated that a new rule won't be effective until 2020, nothing is certain. What should employers do now?

Another Call for Non-Compete Reform
Continuing calls for non-compete reform, especially for lower wage workers, is likely to continue. Recently, a group of unions, nonprofits and professors asked the Federal Trade Commission to put an end to non-compete agreements across the United States. Companies would be advised to think more carefully about the types of employees they require to sign non-competes.
