Ruby is one of the most coveted of gems. The name is derived from the Latin word ruber , meaning “red” – the color of love and passion. Few things catch the eye like the ruby birthstone. The finest color of the birthstone for July is a deep red with a hint of purple, called “pigeon’s blood” in the trade. (GIA.edu)

Give new life to old jewelry!
During a recent trunk show, a client asked how could she change or spruce up her existing diamond X earrings and make them more dramatic? Choosing a neutral white mother of pearl option, a detachable tear drop shape was created with a coordinating white gold fluted frame, to balance with the scale of the top earring and the braided edge design. Then a small hidden, white gold hook was soldered onto the back side of the X earring, so that the drop could slide on and off the hook. In this way, the earring can now be worn with or without the drop, creating two earrings from one!  For the future, the client has the ability to select additional gemstone colors, such as onyx, lapis or malachite, to create more drops from the same design model!

All eyes were on Meghan Markle's huge diamond ring when she and Prince Harry announced their engagement back in November 2017. But two years later, it seems new mum Meghan has redesigned her gorgeous sparkler. Recently eagle-eyed fans noticed that the iconic ring's gold band has been replaced by a thin delicate diamond micro-pave band.

The three-stone ring boasts a large diamond in the center from Botswana—a country where the couple vacationed early on in their relationship—flanked by two smaller stones from Princess Diana’s personal collection.

Do you think she changed a 'part of history' or do you applaud her for the change?
