As we walk with Jesus and his disciples through
Luke 9 we discover that sometimes, even when you don’t fully grasp what is happening around you, you have just got to keep going. We keep pressing toward the fullness of the reign of God and find that God gives us the grace we need to do so.

Luke 9:51-62 | Worship: 9:00 & 10:30 am 
We hope to see you at the Summer Bible Study & Potluck this Sunday, June 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Teen Center (if you aren't attending the Ladies' Garden Party)! Daycare will be provided and the kiddos will have a game night during the potluck in the Green Classroom. Last names (A-M), bring a dessert or fruit, last names (N-Z) bring a salad or side dish.
Reminder to bring your loose change to help support our SPARK children and IGNITE middle school students in the Change4Change offering this Sunday, June 30th.
Have a safe, fun-filled 4th of July celebration with your family and friends. The office will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Pastor Andy continues to recover well from his recent surgery and has been cleared by his medical team to return to work on August 5th.

Crazy Love Book Study for High School Seniors and College Students.

Sundays through August 11th | 6-8pm | 405 Dunblane Dr, Walnut Creek

Join us this summer as we dive into Crazy Love by Francis Chan. We'll provide you with the book and dinner. All you need to do is show up! Contact  Mike Basil  for more information.
We have an adult missions trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota scheduled for the week of October 13th-19th. This trip will involve work projects, traveling to various villages, and understanding the needs present in this community. If you are interested in being a part of this trip please contact Dennis Ashlock at [email protected]  with any questions.

Summer Day Camp
Helpers Still Needed!

SMALL GROUP HELPERS: We still have small groups that have no helpers and Grow in Faith Day Camp starts in a week! Even if you can only help for a couple of hours on any of the days (July 8th-12th), your help would be appreciated.
 
If you can help, please come to the volunteer meeting this Sunday, June 30th between services in the Green Classroom, contact Tanya Nemcik today ( [email protected] | 925.932.1955 ext. 121) with the days and times you are available, or sign up on the lobby signup sheets.
Scholarship for
College Students
Saint Matthew Foundation
Deadline July 12, 2019
 
The Saint Matthew Lutheran Church Foundation Committee is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for college students who are or have been affiliated with Saint Matthew.

Here is the link to the online application. 

To be eligible for the 2019 Barrett Scholarship a student:

  • Must be classified as at least a junior by the beginning of the 2019 fall term.
  • Must be or have been associated with Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Walnut Creek.
  • Must be continuing their faith journey while attending college.
  • Must fully complete the application and references.

Applications (including letters of recommendations) are due by Friday, July 12, 2019, and the scholarship will be awarded in August 2019.
Ladies' Garden Party 
June 30th | 5:00-7:00 pm | The Raymonds' Home 
 
The Ladies' Garden Party is an opportunity for the women of Saint Matthew to come together for a summer evening of salad, sangria, and socializing. The Garden Party will be hosted at the Raymonds' beautiful home this Sunday! Each guest will bring a topping to share for a green salad so that everyone can create their own sensational summer salad. Please carpool if possible since parking spaces are limited and park at the bottom of the driveway. There will be a shuttle to get to the top. More than fifty women are signed up to attend!
