Governor vetoes African animal parts bill
Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill Sunday that would have made it illegal for California hunters to bring home or possess some animals they hunted legally in Africa, punishable by fines of up to $40,000.

Pre-season pintail banding continues
Our biologists are continuing to band pintail and specks as part of our 2018 pre-season banding efforts. Here are our current totals:

Pintails – 472
Green-winged teal – 50
White-fronted geese – 23
Gadwall – 2
Shoveler – 1

Total = 548 ducks and geese

Record attendance for CWA summer activities
It was a record-breaking summer for California Waterfowl as attendance at Grizzly Ranch’s summer camps and clinics hit an all-time high. Six sessions of our youth summer camps brought in 175 future hunters. These five-day camps featured tons of outdoor activities with hands-on instruction in rifle, shotgun and archery.
