From the first sip, the wine is pure Pinot Noir, with a wonderfully soft mouthfeel and classic notes that carry through from the nose to the palate.

Medium-to-full in body, it will make fans among traditional California Pinot lovers as well as those who prefer a little more heft in their reds. The finish is long and intense with a burst of balancing acidity. Simply put, it is a wonderful wine!

"The 2017 Jackson Estate Pinot Noir Petaluma Gap, aged 10 months in 30% new oak, has a pale to medium ruby color with a nose of granite, wild blackberries and fresh cranberries with notes of underbrush, bay leaf, citrus peel and sweet spice. The palate is light to medium-bodied, silky and intense with a good balance of bright fruits, spices and earthy notions. It has a frame of grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and bright. Delicious! Drink Date: 2019 - 2026."
- 92 Points, Wine Advocate (12/19/2019)

"A delicate red, with notes of violet and crushed granite to the bright cherry, pomegranate and wild berry flavors. The spicy finish reveals hints of hot stone. Drink now through 2022. 3,894 cases made."
- 90 Points, Wine Spectator (6/30/2019)

"The 2017 Pinot Noir Jackson Estate was brought up 30% new French oak and is a mix of 777, 667, and Calera clones. Plenty of smoked black cherries, spice, and charcoal notes emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with terrific purity and freshness as well as balance. It's another incredibly high-quality release from winemaker Randy Ullom. Maturity 2020 - 2025."
92 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (6/14/2019)

"Tight, juicy and youthfully tannic, this comes from the Cloud Landing Vineyard in the new appellation, planted to a multiplicity of clones. Textured and richly full bodied, it offers complementary elements of forest floor, tea, blueberry and orange peel."
- 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast (9/1/2019)

"The 2017 Pinot Noir (Petaluma Gap) is soft and pliant, both of which make it an absolute joy to taste today. Crushed red berries, mint, chalk and white pepper all give the wine an attractive upper register. There is a lovely sense of energy that runs through this taut yet expressive Pinot Noir. Drinking Window: 2019 - 2025."

2017 Brewer-Clifton  Chardonnay
Sta. Rita Hilla, California
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fresh, complex, balanced and filled with flavor, the 2017 Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is a blend of fruit from their 3D, Machado, Acin and Hapgood estate vineyards
"A striking, nuanced Chardonnay that hits all the right notes. The 2017 is positively stellar."
- Antonio Galloni, June 2019
A stunning bottle of wine, it offers the wonderful character of their prestigious single-vineyard bottlings for a fraction of the price. We held on to our sample bottle and enjoyed it on  a lazy Sunday evening with a bowl of buttery popcorn. Even with this simple accompaniment, the wine was a revelation.
The critics agree that this is one very special Chardonnay. We lead off with Jeb's wonderful 95-point review...
"One of the great values out there, the 2017 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills offers thrilling notes of white flowers, white peach, currants, and toasted bread. This ripe, sexy wine is unquestionably at the same level as the more expensive single vineyard releases, and it will evolve for just as long. Maturity: 2019 - 2034."
- 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (10/31/2019)
"The 2017 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is a gorgeous appellation-level wine from Brewer-Clifton. Creamy and ample, the 2017 is absolutely delicious. Tangerine, mint, lemon peel and sweet spice notes all meld together in a striking, nuanced Chardonnay that hits all the right notes. The 2017 is positively stellar. That's pretty much all there is to it. Drinking window: 2019 - 2027."
- 93 Points, Vinous - Antonio Galloni (6/2019)
"Very spicy and well-structured, with firm acidity supporting the ripe pear, apple tart and lemon meringue flavors. Concentrated dried mango accents linger on the finish, along with pastry and nutmeg notes. Best from 2020 through 2025."
- 92 Points, Wine Spectator (12/15/2019)
"The 2017 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills has a fresh, open nose of Golden Delicious apple, yellow pear, acacia flowers, crushed stone and white peach. Light to medium-bodied with ripe fruits and integrated acidity, it has a long, minerally finish. Drink Date: 2019 - 2027."
- 91 Points, Wine Advocate (9/12/2019)
"This appellation blend carries that aromatic hallmark of this winery's Chardonnays, with a streak of walnut oil that decorates the marmalade and toast tones. The palate is bright in acidity, giving energy to the flavors of walnut paste, dried orange peel and sun-dried honeysuckle."
- 93 Points, Wine Enthusiast (9/1/2019)
