Join Us for a Journey to Ancient Babylon
We're counting down the days until this year's Vacation Bible School journey--and to the VBS registration deadline!

Parents, be sure to sign up by this coming Tuesday, July 31 so your child doesn't miss the fun of singing, crafts, games, and learning that will fill the mornings of August 6-10, when we'll learn from the prophets in ancient Babylon about God's love and what it means to follow God.

Youth and adult volunteers are also needed from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. that week to help lead small groups of grade-school children through their daily schedule of singing, crafts, games, and lessons. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Matt Helms

Come show support for our youth on Thursday afternoon by attending their free performance in Buchanan Chapel.

manseNew Manse Purchased
Continuing the Legacy of Senior Pastor Housing
At a congregational meeting this past May 6, the congregation authorized Fourth Church to acquire a new manse for the use of its current and future Senior Pastors.

We are pleased to report that the Senior Pastor Housing Committee identified a wonderful property on East Walton that fit well within the parameters of the approved budget and proximity guidelines. An offer was made and accepted, and closing has been completed, with the Kershners planning to move into the new manse in late August.

We are grateful to all who took part in making this investment in a new manse a reality and are delighted that we are able to continue our legacy of providing housing for the senior pastor of Fourth Church now and into the future!

Learning and Serving in Urban Ministry
Please join us in welcoming the youth of First Presbyterian Church Stillwater, Minnesota, and First Presbyterian Church, Statesville, North Carolina, who will be joining us on Sunday afternoon for our last week of the Urban Youth Mission (UYM) summer program of 2018.

The youth will be staying overnight at the church and spending their days engaging in both learning and hands-on outreach experiences at the church and in the city.

sixYouth Head to Montreat on Saturday
Joining with Youth from across the U.S.
Ten of our Fourth Church youth and their adult leaders are headed to the mountains of western North Carolina this Saturday to take part in a weeklong national youth conference that begins Sunday at the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s Montreat Conference Center. There they will have opportunity to share in a time of worship, recreation, community building, and spiritual reflection involving hundreds of Presbyterian youth from across the U.S.

In the days ahead, please keep in your prayers these travelers and all the youth and leaders gathered with them.

Filling Backpacks for Chicago Lights Students
Next week we will be distributing backpacks filled with school supplies to youth taking part in Chicago Lights Summer Day and Urban Farm programming, to ensure the students start the school year prepared with all of the supplies they need to focus on learning!

We still need donations, which can be dropped off by this Sunday, July 29 at either the reception desk or in Coffee Hour. A list of supplies needed by this Sunday is posted online.

We also need help receiving, sorting, and distributing backpacks and supplies. A list of volunteer opportunities is also posted online, as is a list of supplies needed by Sunday, August 12, supplies that will be used in the Chicago Lights Tutoring program this fall.

Thank you for your help!
