Youth MOVE Update
Featuring a Member Spotlight and Conference Success Stories

Rae LaBrie, PPAL's Youth Advocate Specialist, reflects on their journey to becoming a member
of the Youth MOVE National Board of Directors:

"To every young adult out there struggling to find your purpose: you have one. I believe in your potential. No matter how far away your dreams seem, take a leaf out of a rear-view mirror's book. Tell yourself, 'The dreams I have are closer than they appear.' Here's to growth and dream-chasing for all of us."  To read the full article, click here .

This year's PPAL Conference hosted a very successful Youth Track.  In the morning session we discussed music as a form of therapy, and in our afternoon session we hosted Bell Cole, the creator of "13 Reasons to Fly."   The youth had an amazing time learning new ways to cope with stress and unforeseen problems, while also sharing their own personal coping skills and stories of resilience with each other.

Some of the youth recognized for their hard work and improvement during this year's Youth Track were Cameron Hulme, Braden Beauchene, and Alan Arroyo-Quinones.

June Monthly Meeting:
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Treatment and Applications

Michelle Gaudet, M.Ed., LABA presented to PPAL's Parent Network this month on "Understanding the Functions of Behavior."  She presented valuable information on understanding that all human behavior communicates something about our needs and wants.  We learned about the differences between negative/positive reinforcement, negative/positive punishment, and other intervention options.

Do you wish you'd been there?  Make sure you're on the mailing list!  Announcements for Fall 2019 coming soon. Reminder: we do not have a July monthly meeting.
