PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

John Baldwin Community,

If your child attended has John Baldwin in the last few years, you might recall hearing about principal challenges that have presented to our students. Some of our past challenges have included the egg drop, bridge building, and a self propelled car. This year, we have decided to change things up and do instant challenges a few times during the course of the year. The difference is that students will have to do all of their thinking and building here at school... and within a short amount of time. These challenges will be presented to students in 1st through 5th grade during their lunch recess. Our first challenge is coming up on Friday, November 15th. Students will be challenged to work with one to two other partners, be supplied with masking tape and newspapers, and to build the tallest structure that they can. Participation is completely voluntary. The incentive? To have fun and learn a little along the way! We can use your help... by simply providing us with any old newspapers that you have available at your house! Simply drop them off to the office and we will put them to good use!

Looking forward to our first round! Let the building begin!

Sincerely,
Joe Romagna
Principal

Season of Giving opportunities
With the holidays just around the corner, we are happy to provide a few easy ways to give back this season.
1) Be on the lookout later this week for a Sign Up Genius to provide Thanksgiving dinner items for families in need at Cesar Chavez, our sister school.
2) Do you have extra unopened gift items in your closet? Or do you love to shop? To help keep costs down for our students, we are accepting gift donations the first week of December for Holiday Kids Shop, scheduled for Saturday, 12/14. More info to come!
3) Our Serve Committee is once again partnering with Family Giving Tree, a local non-profit, for their holiday wish drive benefiting those in need.  Gift donations will be accepted the first week of December... sign ups are coming soon.

2019 Ski & Snowboard Swap hosted by SRVHS PTSA!
Saturday November 16th 9am-3pm

The SRVHS Ski & Snowboard Swap, hosted by the SRVHS PTSA, is a great place to outfit your family with winter gear for skiing and snowboarding at discount prices. The event will take place in the SRV High School Commons (next to the Performing Arts Center), Saturday, Nov 16th, from 9am to 3pm (Admission is $5/person, children 5 and under are free with an adult). There will be a huge selection of new and used skis, boards, boots, poles, helmets, goggles, and outerwear in adult and children's sizes, along with expert advice to make sure you get just the right fit.

The Ski Swap is accepting donations of gently used ski, boards, boots and outerwear.

If you have gently used equipment or outerwear that your family has outgrown or no longer needs, you can donate it to the swap. The funds raised from its sale will go back to the school to help fund educational programs. All donations are tax deductible. Email us for a pick up [email protected] or bring your donations to the Commons Friday, Nov 15th from 5-7pm. Visit www.srvskiswap.com for more details.
