Thanksgiving Closures
Happy Thanksgiving from the Town of Paradise!

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday, October 8, the Town Hall, and the Paradise Double Ice Complex, including the Body Quest Fitness Centre and Paradise Rotary Youth and Community Centre, are all closed.

Residents are reminded that the  garbage and recycling collection schedule  for the week of October 8 -12 moves ahead by one day. The collection schedule for next week is below.
Employee Recognition
The Town of Paradise held its first annual Employee Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, September 27.

It was an event to formally thank our employees for their dedicated hard work, a time to recognize years of service, and time to celebrate all that our employees do to make Paradise a great Town in which to live, play, and work! During the ceremony, employees were recognized for 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service along with celebrating a recently retired employee.

Hats off to all employees with the Town of Paradise, and thanks for all your hard work!
Roundabout Work Update
Work is progressing on the new roundabout for the intersection of Topsail Road and McNamara Drive. The work is being completed in stages in order to minimize traffic interruptions as much as possible.

The first portions of work are the sewer system upgrades on McNamara Drive and the construction of a retaining wall on the perimeter of the Paradise Plaza ALRE property development (former ACAN site).

The photo above shows the retaining wall. Once these are completed, work will begin on changing the intersection into a roundabout. This road work project will continue through to the end of this year's construction season. Updates are available on the Town website.
Fire Prevention Week and Open House
Fire Prevention Week runs from October 07 - 13, 2018 the St. John's Regional Fire is reminding all residents to "Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware - fire can happen anywhere."
  • LOOK for places fire could start. Take good look around your home. Identify potential fire hazards and take care of them.
  • LISTEN for the sound of the smoke alarm. You could have only minutes to escape safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Go to your outside meeting place, which should be a safe distance from the home and where everyone should know to meet.
  • LEARN two ways out of every room and make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily and are free of clutter.
As part of the activities for Fire Prevention Week, Paradise Fire Station No. 8 is holding an Open House on Saturday, October 6 from 2 - 5 p.m. It will be a fun time while learning about fire safety and prevention. This event will include tours of the station, an opportunity to see all of the equipment, plus games and activities for children. For more info, visit the event page or Paradise.ca/Events.
Temporary Lane Closure for Topsail Road
Please be advised that there will be temporary lane closures on Topsail Road for Monday, October 8 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To accommodate water and sewer work for the Paradise Plaza ALRE property development (former ACAN site), lane closures are needed on a small section of Topsail Road. Between Octagon Heights and McNamara Drive, Topsail Road will be reduced to two lanes (one lane for each direction of traffic).

The lane closures will be in place for one day, all four lanes will be reopened by 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The public is reminded to use caution in all construction areas. The Town of Paradise apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause.
