Your Community Brief from Oak Ridge High School
Friday, October 5, 2018

After today, we have only five regular school days remaining in the first nine-week period of 2018-2019. I encourage all of our Pioneers to bring any missing assignments or projects current before the end of next week. Please remember that there is no school on Monday, October 15th for students, but the teachers will still be on campus closing out grades for the quarter.

This evening is our Homecoming football game vs. University High School at 7:00 p.m. We would really like to pack the house tonight, so please consider coming on out to cheer on the Pioneers!

In closing, I want to once again remind our Pioneers about available tutoring options provided every week:
  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - 2:30 p.m to 4:30 p.m
  • Wednesday - 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Hot meal provided daily
  • Transportation offered (two general area stops, pick closest to home)
  • FREE
Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see you at tonight's big game. Go Pioneers!

With Pioneer Pride,

Mrs. Jennifer Bellinger
Principal

Community Support

Hilton Orlando has partnered with Oak Ridge for the past several years.  Each year, they support our school in many ways. This year, they have initiated their support by hosting a "school supply drive." Katrina Ramsey and Trinten Ore delivered many boxes filled with supplies for both teachers and students! Thank you for your generosity; we are grateful to have you as our valued partner.

Aviation program update

Our third year aviation students are participating in project approval presentations for their year-long aerospace engineering projects. The students must demonstrate an understanding of the scope of work for their project in order to receive funding. The students are required to use the skills they acquired during the first two courses of aerospace technology in order to successfully complete their projects.

Teacher Spotlight
Megan Goldberg, English II Honors & AP Human Geography Instructor

Megan Goldberg, English II Honors and AP Human Geography
I grew up as the daughter of two U.S. Air Force officers, so I moved around a lot before going to high school in Tampa. I went to UCF and got a bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education. I have taught at Oak Ridge for four years teaching English II Honors and AP Human Geography. I've been the sponsor for National Honor Society for the past three years.

My life is on to a new and exciting chapter as I'm getting married in May, so next year I will be Mrs. Thompson! I spend my time outside of school working on my master's degree and being obsessed with my two dogs.
