The 38th Annual Berea Craft Festival will be held July 12-14, 2019 at Berea's Indian Fort Theater. Over 100 juried artists from over 15 states will be on site demonstrating and selling their creations.

Outdoor Free Play at the Pinnacles

Join us for our monthly Outdoor Free Play at the Pinnacles! This month we will be joined by Get Outside KY who will be coordinating some fun outdoor leaderships/team games for the kids. Summer ARTS Camp

Students will take part in 6 classes each day. Classes will include musical theater dance, design(set/costumes), stage makeup, visual art, music, acting, etc. We have a full week of FUN prepared! Nurturing Yoga Retreat for Women

8th International Exhibition of Scratchboard Art
(Through July 31, 2019)

An International exhibit opens, a two-day scratchboard conference will be held, and exciting demonstrations by talented artists working with wood will be happening throughout the month of May at the Kentucky Artisan Center.
 
The Kentucky Artisan Center is proud to announce their first International exhibition to be on display in the Center's main gallery. The "8th International Exhibition of Scratchboard Art" opens May 17, with an open to the public reception from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center. Artists are members of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists, (ISSA) and the opening reception will include awards 
given to members and Master Level artists exhibiting.
 
On display May 17 - July 31, 2019, this International exhibit includes works by 51 artists from all over the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, China and Portugal.
 
Many of these scratchboard works appear to be high-resolution photographs, fooling the observer upon first encounter. The level of artistry in this exhibit is extraordinary, especially in the works by Master Level member artists. The Center is pleased to host the annual ISSA conference on May 18 and 19.  




Pass it On: Exhibit of works by Learnshop Instructors
(June 30, 2019 - October 20, 2019)

The Kentucky Artisan Center will showcase the works of over 50 Learnshop                            Instructors
in the exhibit "Pass it On" in the Center's lobby from June 30 - Oct. 20, 2019. Berea's Festival of Learnshops offers over 160 workshops by outstanding professional artists, musicians, writers and craftspeople. This exhibit includes a wide variety of mediums and techniques from painting to furniture, sculpture and jewelry. Viewers can see the wi de array of talent these Learnshop instructors are passing on to their students.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Sabra L. Crockett has lived in numerous locations                   t hroughout the south before finding her home in Louisville, Kentucky. There she enjoys being surrounded
 by beautiful songbirds and a spectacular variety of trees.
 
"I am fascinated by nature. It has a secret language that I try to decipher. There is a feeling I get when observing the birds, animals, and trees - a feeling that I am experiencing something that is so familiar, and yet so extraordinary," she states. "I have been visiting one of the largest and oldest Ginko trees in Louisville for many years now and the painting in this exhibit is the first in a series about this tree."

Saturday, July 6
Folk Art Painting by Janice Miller

Janice Miller, of Lancaster, will demonstrate her folk art painting techniques on July 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center.
 
Miller is a self-taught folk artist who creates paintings with acrylics on Masonite board. Her colorful works reflect her love of animals, landscapes and nature forms.








Saturday, July 13-
Folk Art Sculpture Demonstrated by Joann Butts

Folk artist Joann Butts, of Sandy Hook, will demonstrate her carved and painted wooden animal sculptures on July 13, from 10:30 to 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. Joann learned her craft from her aunt, the well-known folk artist Minnie Adkins. She creates a wide array of animals from carved wood and colorful acrylic paint.

Two members of the Berea Welcome Center Carvers will demonstrate a variety of woodcarving styles and techniques at the Kentucky Artisan Center 

 












Saturday, July 27-
Pottery on the Wheel Demonstrated by Mike Ware

On Saturday, July 27, Mike Ware, of Hindman, KY, will demonstrate pottery on the wheel from 1 0:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Center. Ware carves and colors the surface of his functional pottery with his signature dogwood motif and other imagery.

Free Narrated Trolley Tour of Berea

Free Narrated Trolley Tour of Berea: The trolley will run every Saturday until October 12, 2019. The tours will start at 10am at the Kentucky Artisan Center, then stop at the Artisan Village, Chestnut Street Park, Boone Tavern, and back to the Kentucky Artisan Center. The tours are approximately 40-45-minutes round trip. You may get on and off at any stop. Trolley Tour schedules are available upon request. Please call with any questions: 859-986-2450.

We will never turn you away, should you forget your donation. And we will surely appreciate everything you can give.

The Berea Celtic Festival has over the years drawn numerous excellent musicians and singers to town for this traditional, grassroots and puredrop event. A low-budget, cozy, reliable fest that encourages musicians to meet, inspire and play at sessions, workshops and concerts throughout town. Most events are free of charge, but there will be admissions for other ones to cover our expenses.
