Federal SBIR/STTR Agency Highlights

NIH next deadline is January 5th, 2020 Small businesses are encouraged to submit their technology ideas to HHS for funding consideration. Researcher-initiated ideas are proposed via the SBIR and STTR Omnibus grant solicitations (also called  funding opportunity announcements  or FOAs). Applicants should speak with an  HHS SBIR/STTR program manager  BEFORE submitting an application. Program managers will discuss the Institute or Center (IC)’s interest in the proposed technology and can offer application-specific advice.


Find out within 3 weeks if your project is a fit and an invitation to submit a full proposal. Invitations to submit have until Dec 12, 2019. Registrations must be complete to submit a full proposal.

SBIR Connect

SBIR Connect monthly meetings are free and open to the public. The meetings are intended for networking, latest updates on SBIR/STTR programs, and include a Q&A. Whether you are new to SBIR/STTR or an experienced awardee, the meetings are to help expand your knowledge and improve involvement within the program.

KIIP micro-Grant

The KIIP micro-Grant provides financial assistance, to SBIR/STTR companies, for activities that help companies explore new markets, identify new buyers, and prepare competitive SBIR/STTR submissions. The focus of eligible activities the grant can be used for are travel, educational/training events, and commercial research, not funded by other assistance programs.
