Deadline Is Monday, July 31
|
If you're child is keen to accompany us on a journey back in time to ancient Rome, don't miss the July 31 registration deadline for VBS 2017!
This year's Vacation Bible School will have us exploring the early church with the Apostle Paul, learning about our call to be disciples, making crafts, playing games in the courtyard, singing lively songs, and taking part in all sorts of other VBS fun.
Preschoolers through fifth graders are invited to join us for this action-packed experience Monday through Friday, August 7-11 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Just be sure to sign up here by this coming Monday!

Celebrating Six Weeks of Summer Learning
|
For the past five weeks, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., more than 100 students have engaged in academic classes and art instruction on the fifth floor of the Gratz Center. This coming week will mark the conclusion of their immersion in our six-week Chicago Lights Summer Day program.
In celebration of all they have learned and done, the students will present a fun-filled performance
this Thursday, August 3 at 1:30 p.m. in Buchanan Chapel.
All are invited to attend this free showcase of music, dance, singing, and more. It's a great way to show your support for these youth while enjoying their creative expressions!

Youth Conference in North Carolina
|
This weekend seven of our youth and three adult leaders are heading to the mountains of western North Carolina to take part in a weeklong national youth conference held at Montreat, a Presbyterian Church (USA) conference center.
In the days ahead, please keep in your prayers these travelers and all the youth and leaders who will be gathered with them.

Addressing Issues of Sex Trafficking
|
Fourth Church's Sunlight Project is hosting a Selah Freedom Training session on Saturday morning, August 5.
Selah Freedom works to end sex trafficking and has opened homes for survivors near Chicago. This August 5 training opportunity offers a deeper understanding of the issue of commercial sexual exploitation of children and the population Selah Freedom serves.
CEU credit is available for this workshop.

Cookout volunteers to assist with the Chicago Lights Urban Farm Community Cookout (444 W. Chicago) on Saturday, August 12; shifts begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue through 3:00 p.m.
