Stephen Smith, Ph.D. joins CPI Staff as an Implementation Specialist/Trainer
We are pleased to announce that Stephen Smith, Ph.D. has joined our staff as an Implementation Specialist/Trainer for the OnTrackNY initiative. In this role, he will work directly with OnTrackNY teams across NYS.

Dr. Smith is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist whose training and expertise have focused primarily on psychological treatments for individuals with significant mental health concerns. He is trained in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp)- an evidence-based approach often viewed as the gold-standard in the treatment of individuals experiencing psychosis. Dr. Smith has also obtained specialized training in Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) from the Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania. While there, he helped train providers throughout the country in the use of CT-R for individuals that were typically non-responsive to traditional interventions (e.g. medication management). In addition to treatments for significant mental health concerns, Dr. Smith is also interested in exploring topics in cultural competence, and particularly racial bias in violence risk assessments.

Prior to his arrival at CPI, Dr. Smith served as a Primary Clinician and then Team Leader for the Mental Health Association of Westchester's OnTrackNY program and then Director of Training at MHA Westchester.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Smith to our staff.
