New Student Social

The New Student Social is our special way of welcoming  students who will be new to Golden Pond School in the 2019-20 school year. Friends experienced The Golden Pond Way for the first time through duck themed, hands on games, art, cookie decorating, crafts and more.

Incoming students met teachers and new friends while playing   Lucky Duck, Duckpin Bowling, Egg Toss, Pin the Tail on the Duck and Chuck-a-Duck Bean Bag Toss. In addition we captured photos, painted murals, decorated cookies, made Duck Feed and   Duck Visors! We look forward to seeing all these new faces again this summer and fall!
Fly Ups!

Fly Up graduation ceremonies are always a special time at GPS! The sound of the children singing their special graduation song on the pavilion filled the air ...  "Fly Up, Fly Up! Fly Up to new things, away we go! Fly Up, Fly Up! Fly upward and onward we go!"

Lisa Moriarty
Principal
At GPS since 2007

Lisa started at Golden Pond School in 2007 as a Lead Kindergarten Enrichment teacher. She delighted in the brain based curriculum which allowed the exploration of engaging themes; promoting a child's natural curiosity, fostering joyful learning and meaningful fun. From 2008-2013 Lisa had the privilege of serving as the Kindergarten/KE Curriculum Coordinator and Team Lead. In addition to her teaching duties, Lisa has been an active member of the GPS teams presenting at annual Conferences of the Virginia Reading Association (2012 and 2013) and at the International Reading Association in San Antonio, Texas (2013). Lisa was then asked to assume overall leadership of the administrative team and was appointed Principal in 2013.
Lisa currently lives in Leesburg with her wonderful husband, Jim, and their beautiful Pitbull, Jasmine, a rescue dog from Philadelphia. They have one son, James, who lives in San Diego, CA. Lisa loves cooking, reading, visiting her son and taking catnaps when time allows!

"I enjoy working in an environment that cultivates a strong partnership between home and school, encourages the pursuit of personal growth and offers stimulating challenges."
