Board of Education Hires Pasquale Scuderi as AUSD's New Superintendent
At its
June 25 public meeting, the Board of Education approved the hire of the district's next superintendent: Pasquale Scuderi, currently Associate Superintendent at Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD).
Under the terms of the three-year contract, Mr. Scuderi's base salary will be $230,000. He will begin his position in Alameda on July 8.
The Board of Education has extended the deadline for applications to become a district representative to the boards of two local charter organizations: Academy of Alameda and Community Learning Centers Schools (the organization that oversees ACLC and Nea). In addition to approving a new superintendent at its
June 25 public meeting, the Board of Education approved: the district's 2019-20 budget and 2019-20 Local Control Accountability Plan, as well as revised graduation requirements for Island High School and a new homework policy based on the recommendations crafted by the Homework Workgroup.
The Board also directed staff to hire consultants to explore the viability of a parcel tax for increasing employee compensation.
