ATA Gymnastics Newsletter                                    July  2019

July is Acro Month
If you think doing a handstand on firm ground is hard ... try doing it while balancing on someone else's hands!!! This is a common skill performed by ATA's team athletes! Here at ATA, our team competes in the exciting sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics. It is a combination of partner skills, dance and individual acrobatic and tumbling skills. Partners work in pairs or groups to perform skills of balance and of flight. During the month of July, all recreational students will learn basic pair and group acrobatic skills in addition to their regular individual skill training. If you would like more information on our pre team program, please stop by the front desk.

July's Safety Tip
In order to provide a safe environment during the crossover times between classes, we've been having students wait in the chairs or on the linoleum until their teachers call them out to class. Thank you to all of our students for adjusting to this new policy so quickly! Let's continue to maintain safe crossover times by waiting off of the gym floor!

Summer Break
ATA will be closed
Monday July 1-Saturday July 6 due to our summer break. Classes will resume on Monday July 8th. Please note that makeups are not needed for this scheduled time off as tuition is based on an approximate average of 4 classes per month over a 1 year period.
Fun at the Beach (at ATA!)
Summer is in full swing and beach days are here! During the weeks of July 15-27, ATA's Intro tumblers (4-6 yrs) will be riding the waves as they perform their gymnastics skills. During these weeks, send your child in their hippest beachwear (surf shorts, Hawaiian shirt, etc.) No sunscreen required!;)

Acrobatic Gymnastics Team
Once again, we had to hit the ground running in the month of June!  Regional Championships was held June 1-2 at Santiago Canyon College in Southern California!  Athletes numbering over 350 from all over the Region attended the event!   Team ATA was very proud of the results!  Our amazing athletes did very well earning 5 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals!!  We were super proud to also bring home some Team Awards for 12-18 Elite, Level 9 and Level 7!  Well done athletes!

Team ATA got to splash and cool off at the Annual ATA BBQ & Pool Party compliments of our host family, the Hasteers!  Adding to the amazing time, we enjoyed the most spectacular Shave Ice, donated by one of our own Team Members, Iced Up Shaved Ice Confections!  Thanks everyone for such a great day with lots of laughs, good eats and slurps, great conversation and team bonding!

The month we've had a chance to challenge our lower level athletes with upgraded skills since they concluded the season at Regional Championships!  It has been fun learning some new things as well as welcoming some new recruits!  The entire team was able to celebrate the season in style at the Annual ATA Team Gala!  The audience got a chance to cheer for our Nationals-bound athletes as they performed their competition routines!  Novice and Intermediate Team was joined by our Team-in-Training recruits to perform some fun and engaging group routines!

Finally, it was a great honor to congratulate all of ATA's Annual Awards Recipients!  These amazing athletes were recognized by their fellow teammates in front of family and friends for many of their outstanding efforts, achievements and qualities!

Our upper level athletes are now jetting off to Des Moines, IA to take part in the USA National Championships.  Good Luck to all our talented athletes.  A T A!!  ALL THE WAY!!  WHOOT!!  WHOOT!!

Have a Great Day!
