We seek volunteers for two fun and distinctive July events - and temporary Chiclet care.
  1. Fireworks viewing fundraiser on Thursday, 4th of July.
  2. PortSide booth at the Formula E car race eVillage Sat 7/13, Sun 7/14
4th of July "50 for $50" fundraiser
If you help set-up and clean-up for this small fundraiser, you can bring a friend for free and enjoy the party.

This is a BYOB and food event like Second Sundays TankerTime (but we will feed you!) that runs from 7pm to 11pm. Fireworks start at 9:20 and will explode south of the Brooklyn Bridge. We'll have a good view from the MARY A. WHALEN through the container port cranes with Manhattan skyline as backdrop. Volunteers please arrive by 5pm and please RSVP.

Formula-E electric car race:

Come experience the craziness of high speed car racing in Atlantic Basin!

This year, the 3rd year of Formula E here, PortSide has been given a booth inside their  eVillage, an area with a view of the track and "a variety of fantastic displays and activities" like us. Come join us in telling folks about the wonders of PortSide, playing with marine hardware and the Salty Selfies station.

The E-Village booth needs to be staffed from gates open to gates closed, 7am - 6pm on both July 13 and 14. We need coverage for a long day, can you commit to a 4-hour shift?

The morning hours are definitely lighter, so we can probably get by with just one volunteer from 7am - 10am.

How about shifts from 10am to 2pm and 2pm to 6pm?

On Sunday, we'll work a bit longer to break down the booth.

Chiclet care
The Formula E team has their ops center next to the ship, and I would like to get Chiclet away ASAP from risk of fast forklifts, moving containers and the  crashing steel of fences and grandstand installation.

Can you take care of her until 7/16, two days after the race? I'll supply all food and litter, litter pan and bed, so you get a fun, furry friend for a few weeks at no cost to you. I'd like
to be kept inside; if she gets outside, she might try to trek back here.

T hanks for any assistance!

Best,
