Disaster Response Ministry
|
|
Dear Friends in Christ,
Through generous donations from people like you, UCC Disaster Ministries is responding to the needs of people affected by 2018 hurricanes both within the United States and around the world. Donate now to deepen the impact of our immediate response and long-term recovery work.
Last week Hurricane Florence roared ashore in the US Carolinas. Although downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, communities are experiencing mass flooding. The large scope of devastation is just beginning to be known. The UCC is responding.
Last week Super Typhoon Mangkhut (AKA as Ompong) created devastation in the Philippines, and also wreaked havoc in Hong Kong, China and other parts of Asia. Landslides, wind, and rain have claimed many lives, while others are missing. The UCC is responding.
More storms are churning. Stay up-to-date on the
UCC response
Your donation helps the UCC respond quickly to immediate disaster and long-term recovery needs. Our actions focus on the most vulnerable by addressing injustice, responding to the whole community, and filling gaps in service. One hundred percent of UCC disaster relief funds are used for direct service to individuals and communities, and rehabilitation programming.
You can send contributions through the Penn Northeast Conference. Please mark on check for disaster ministry.

Spread the Word... PNEC and PSEC are sponsoring a trip to
Puerto Rico April 28 - May 5, 2019
At a recent planning meeting for the trip to Puerto Rico, we started discussing the possible expenses expected per person, including airfare, food, transportation and other expenses. We are considering that the total cost per person will be $1,000.00 for all the expenses. This is a basic estimate so we can plan individually. Other topic discussed was the different documents that every person will need for the project: passport, health insurance, medication rules and releases from UCC. Since is the beginning of the coordination, we are identifying elements needed so everyone can start deciding and clarifying their decision of been part of the project.
Our next planning meeting is in October 2, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity UCC 101 South Main Street, Telford 18969.
If you want additional information, please contact Gilberto Garcia-Rodrigues, PNEC Associate Conference Minister at

Children's Sermon for Oct.7 (World Communion) - by Rev. David Quinn
Items needed:
tree branch you have sawed off a tree, picture of a tree, where all the branches go to one trunk. Ask kids what the branch is, and where it came from--a tree. Show picture of tree--point out how all the different branches, like the one you have with you in church today, come out from the one main part of the tree, which is called the trunk. The church we are a part of today, is like one branch on a tree. Each church in our town is like another branch on the tree. And churches all over the world--each one of them is like another branch on a very BIG tree. (Point to trunk on tree picture) And just like the one trunk on the tree holds all the branches together, our one Savior, Jesus Christ, is the one who holds all the churches together. Today is World Communion Sunday, where we celebrate Communion on the same day as churches all over the world, remembering that Jesus is like the tree trunk that holds us all.
